I am shocked at how even professionals like Badrinath have viewed Ashwin's retirement from an emotional lens. Ashwin has clearly told everyone that he felt he was done after the Perth test. And that he was better off playing club cricket. He saw the writing on the wall - he would never be seen as the first spin option either overseas or at home where dustbowls have become the norm. So, it was a waste of his time at 38 years of age to warm the bench. This is as clear-headed and emotionless a call that one can make. The onus is on coach, captain, and chief selector to explain why they acted in a way to convey why India's all-time greatest matchwinner was no longer their first choice spinner.

The most remarkable aspect of BGT series in 2021 was the success in bowling inspite of heavily depleted bowling attack as the series progressed. What was most noticeable was the bowling plans for various batters which was executed by the team very well. Unfortunately no such plans were visible this time. Not sure if the planning or execution, was lacking, but fact is it didn't produce the results this time. Also the way Bharath Arun worked with such inexperienced bowlers to execute the plans and achieve success is truly remarkable and a story for ages!

Kholi won't listen to any one suggestion, that plain arrogance and superficial inflated ego. If someone says that you made a mistake you should check it just once and then say it was not good. Dont sugar coat it he lacks the skill to adapt because his ego is not giving way .
