VIRGIL ABLOH - CREATIVE ADVICE, BRAND BUILDING, AND TOXIC PERFECTIONISM

The first gate my videos have to pass is showing respect to the artists they cover. This weight was especially heavy here. What I wanted to design with the long format was something that could reflect the often dense and complex thoughts Virgil had on the creative process. As an artist he was was inspired across skate culture, graffiti culture, high fashion, and music/dj'ing, and I wanted to get these references into the piece too.
I hope a sense of respect for the artist comes across to the audience, and if you knew Virgil, or he meant something to you, I hope this video leaves you feeling lifted and positive about this small corner of his legacy.

I never did understand the hype behind Virgil. I know he did off-white but extremely simplistic to me. I'm not trying to be a hater so can anyone put me on to some of the great things he's done?

@@jobach It's not just Off White. but OW is part of it. For me he was a skate kid that was into hip hop. He started making tshirts and got into fashion through there. that led to magical relationships with Ye. He was Ye's creative director for 10 years. so His uncredited output was massive. But it was really his philosophical approach to his projects. and just seeing this punk rock hip hop kid rise up to head up the largest fashion house in the world.

By experience, reading books, and/or having a mentor as far as I know. For me, it doesn't mean if you already finished school you stop studying. You keep learning, educate yourself. The best investment is self investment.
