Virgils main point In the conversation (if you were listening) was the concept of 'hyper focus'. The kid has a billion random ideas and references that could be used each as their own brand. Virgil probably hears this so often when people pitch their clothing vision and ideas to him. Virgil said it perfectly, when he sees the content, he sees 7 brands. I think his mind has transcended the hype street wear culture although being still heavily influenced. The young kid on the other hand, and I commend him for doing what he's doing, is so engulfed in current things that are trendy despite wanting to create timeless pieces. His clothing looks really similar to stuff that pops up on instagram ads every few posts.

I'm at a 3:23 right now and paused the video just to get my two cents out. When Kanye came to Perth in 2014 I accidentally ran into Virgil at my local cafe while I was walking back to class at my TAFE. The man who had already designed multiple off-white collections went out of his way to have a conversation with me about art, fashion and Kanye's show while he was eating lunch with Nina Las Vegas. He was so polite and nice to me even though I was wearing the most bum ass fake been trill X HBA shirt and Pyrex shirt. No matter what the outcome of this video is I just want to say that he is deep down in his heart a nice and genuine guy. Allot of people who are around these mega stars before they blow up get a huge head but not Virgil. He's a real bloke who will take the time out of his day if he has it available just to show his fans love. Good luck to this kid in the future I wish I got the opportunity that he has been given.

I can tell, kid was nervous and he's done enough to get the attention of this group to get him in front of Virgil. I can tell the first time I presented a starting brand in art school, ive had a history of hating public speaking but I had to learn. I was terrible in my first presentation, but with practice, and continuing to speak, and slowing down i was able to articulate my ideas better to where the audience could get an idea of what I was suggesting. This kids on the right path, he'll get better with each time he does this.

This video was 4 years ago when this kid was 19 years old. What are/were you doing at 19? Those of you saying that Hypland is/was trash or the kid was not listening, are not paying attention to the context of where both persons, Hypland and Virgil were at this point in time. 4 years ago, Virgil was not "Virgil". Off White was not where it is today and he was not the Men's Director for Louis Vuitton. 4 years ago, Hypland was not where it is today. Change and building brand and a business is a process. Who would have thought either would accomplish what they have thus far? No one could have predicted their successful futures. It is easy to be critical of someone's journey especially when most/all commenting, have never taken a risk or even have the talent or vision to develop anything. I can think of many examples of those who have "made" it, who some of y'all idolize but definitely were criticized for their early beginnings. It is a good thing Kanye, JayZ, Sean Combs, Virgil, Kim K., Will Smith, Spike Lee, Tyler Perry, Oprah, Ellen, etc. did not listen to their critics. Keep shining and grinding Hypland!

this video was released in 2016 & looking at the 'Hypeland' website now in 2020. i've seen growth of this brands audience . however, i don't see the growth in his pieces / clothes. he didn't really take Virgil's tip with creating different themes for every season. instead the kid jus makes tees or jackets with anime on it. which i honestly see a problem with, if he wants to be "high fashion". i can only visualize his brand in a zumiez or pacsun if we are being honest.

He knows the market well being the age range of his target demographic. His anime pieces always sell out for HxH and Naruto which havr huge fanbases. The sad part is, it’s very quick trend and statement pieces rather than classics. The materials are generic feeling. Ive ordered a couple of pieces from his site. I think he needs to go more into the design incorporating his brand and anime more in a better collab rather than having cut out of the character and his logo on the same shirt. Like do a military camo pants with the colors of the camo being an anime character and have subtle hints of their characteristic on there. He has a good approach, and I wanna see his brand grow honestly. Got potential. Just needs experience and exposure to more streetwear and fashion

checked homies site and he didn't listen to anything Virgil said (i.e. said he would solely focus on flag concept but has the Anime naruto feat present) . Yes, fashion is about self expression and self direction but the best designers are understudies first. Virgil - Kanye , Heidi Slimane - Pierre Berge, Kris Van Assche - Heidi Slimane etc .and you must watch, observe and apply, this is integral to any up and comer. He is a tad hard headed and the "smart alec" attitude of " ive made a little money and have reach already" can also part-take as a beginner with the excitement and minuscule success intact. Virgil cultivated and packaged the message really well: refine your concept (take the less is more approach), focus on quality once concept is intact/staunch, set bigger end goals and targets as well as think exclusively (collections, seasonal etc.)
