There is no first class up there i think. I flew up there and it was just premium and economy premium is great

+inflightexpert Thanks - The Clubhouse is definitely one of the better ones, if not the best one at Heathrow. Way better than the BA Concorde room - which is amazing really as the Concorde Room is a First Class lounge, where as the Clubhouse is a Business lounge.

I took this very same aircraft to Europe on a high school trip back in 2007. It was one of the best flights I have ever taken, even with my seat being near the back of the plane. Virgin picked up the high school group of 35 after our flight from Reno to SF was cancelled and we missed our connecting flight to London. Everything about this plane and crew was just lovely, and I still think about that flight quite often, 9 years later.

Interesting that Virgin puts economy and economy premium on the top deck of their 747's, I never knew that. Could be quite a nice way to fly on the top deck of one. I've never been that impressed by virgin, but maybe it is just a couple of bad flights I've had.

+my-tripreport.com G-VHOT was not scrapped. It is in storage in the desert hopefully waiting for some Freight-Company,etc. to buy it........usually slightly above scrap-value. Being that it is GE powered, there is a good chance this now orphan.......will be bought,then ferried to Asia...have a cargo door made and floor retrofitted for Freight duty and have a thorough FAA maintenance-repair procedure good for a 6-year cycle. Being a very young air-frame with just moderate takeoff-landing and pressure cycles on its logbook...it will find another useful purpose.

If the Virgin Atlantic folks fail to heed the warning..........Virgin Atlantic will be there for the history books and nothing more. usable planes re-painted in Delta Livery,other parts of the the Virgin Atlantic Fleet; mothballed,(scrapped,think A340s), sold, returned back to Lessor/Financier. Delta has been very clear.........................it bought controlling Interest in Virgin Atlantic for its UK and global Landing and Gate slots......which are far more valuable than the carrier itself.

Probably down to fuel, they use much more than something like a 787 or A330 which is what most of VA's fleet current consists of, they no longer use 747's to fly from Heathrow either, really sad to see them go as a chunk of my childhood was spent on Virgin 747's, I remember going on Mustang Sally and Hot Lips. Mustang sally has been stored but "Hot Lips" is still flying, however she won't be for much longer...
