Great video as always Dave, I have a friend who shot 158 pigeons with 182 shells with Jim Albone in Cambridge , he takes on allcomers even at long range. To give you some idea of his ability he is a busy landscape gardener so only managed to shoot clays twice this year, he's fired less than a slab of shells all year. He had an accident recently which caused his left eye to be temporarily blurred however he decided to still go to the British open and shot 109 out of 120, one behind George Digweed who shot 110. This may sound unbeleivable but it is absolutely true. If anyone disputes this put a post on here and arrange a day to watch him shoot and be amazed.

excellent vid dave and some cracking birds shot, the hide was about 4 inch to high it hampered your swing on quite a few birds i set mine up just below chest height so not hampered with the low birds coming in to the decoys

Fully agree with you and annoying, but I think it was set a bit high on purpose as farmers were working in part of an adjacent field, far enough away in my opinion, but probably precautionary.

What a change of pace to see Dave Carrie in a camo tee shirt and baseball cap; you'd look right at home in a dove field here! Some seriously good shooting on those high ones, a pleasure to watch. I've always thought it's great that there is a market for the birds and that they are are appreciated in restaurants in the UK. Have a great season, take care and best regards as always, Ed.

Thank you for this excellent video Dave, well done. Regarding the decline in bird populations, I was born in 1946 and grew up in Brighton surrounded by downland. All small birds were plentyful, Finches, Skylarks, Blackbirds, Songthrushes etc. Also insects, so many different species which are hardly seen these days. An example, back then there were so many Bees on the garden flowers the sound of which I would liken to a symphony orchestra playing. Sadly those days are gone. Geoff.

@@calibreman Mmm yes I think you’re right the amount of insects have definitely declined! The sound of bees in the meadows and sparrows in the farmyard was something special 👌

Good content Dave but l see you remain a martyr to recoil from heavy loads, 29/30g of fibre wadded 6's through 1/4 & 3/8 chokes does the job and still kills out to 60yds. Well done, keep the faith.

The Pigeon load must be a shoulder kicker? 34 gram load at 1,450 fps. That load is more powerful than our standard dove/pigeon loads here in the US. I shoot a 30-32 gram load at 1,200 fps mostly- and that's a pretty standard load over here. Wish I could get that load you're using over here!

MasterClassAmmo and Clayshooterssupply are a good source for Gamebore ammunition in the US and they both have the Gamebore extreme pigeon loads available for online purchase in the us. I have used these loads and they are milder than typical us manufactured 1300fps 11/4 oz loads. The powders and wading that Gamebore uses makes really makes a difference. All Gamebore loads I have tried so far have been great.
