Hi Shane, thank you so much for this reaction! I suggest you this band beacuse they are my favourite band, along with Manilla Road and King Diamond. They are not very Power Metal, but more Epic, if you wanna listen to the Marriage Of Heaven And Hell albums and Invictus you will understand why (: Also their 80's stuff is really good, Noble Savage on top of that. If you are a fan of hard rock like Whitesnake, listen to their album Life Among The Ruins (1993), it's inspirated by Whitesnake! The song that you listen to came to The House Of Atreus Act I album that is ispired by the greek poem Oresteia, and along with the House Of Atreus Act II it's definitely a metal opera. Yeah, i wish they are more popular now, but today they are at the end of their (glorius) carreer, so... But they released in their carreer very solid albums, for sure! Thank you again, glad that you enjoyed it! Can't wait to see that reaction to Running Wild that you were talkin! (sorry for some mistakes in the writing)

The only similarity with Manowar is that VS toured with them in the very early 80s. Other than that, there’s no connotations. Both bands are brilliant. Both bands are traditional and both bands deserved a hell of a lot more recognition.

I agree and disagree.Most of the times thay have no big similarities other than the fact they both belong in the epic metal genre, but some later songs from Virgin Steel like Symphony of Steele or some from Invictus have obvious Manowar influences

I had the Marriage Of Heaven And Hell Part I CD. A great song from them is "I Will Come For You". DeFeis' vocals on that track sounds fierce. This is an old 80s band Shane.

"Why isn't this band more famous". Yeah, we've been wondering the same for years. My guess is, they released their more acclaimed music during a period when that type of music was going out of style on the mainstream. They do have a cult following online though, their 90s run of albums is seen as a fantastic accomplishment and a must listen for fans of the heavy/power genre.

Yeah they've released their best albums in a period where metal was considered "dead" relatively speaking. Additionally a lot of their material is high art stuff where you have to listen the whole album in one piece while reading the lyrics. They do have catchy entry songs but those are spread between interludes and high concept stuff which probably scares people away. With that being said, it's the best band in the world.

VS is a legendary band. Not the cheesy power metal crap like dragon force, VS is a epic heavy metal band with a phenomenal song writing spirit, incorporating some incredible medieval lyrical themes, ranging from medieval battles, mythology, fantasy, history. They have written some amazing songs & had a golden run from mid 80's to early 2000's. It's a iconic name for a mighty heavy metal band, any band with a steel in their name, is just outright class in the grant scheme of classic heavy/speed/original power metal !!

I box and this is on my playlist when I work out. It's the point in my workout where I put the gloves on and start the heavybag. I fight to this song and I consider that my first 2 rounds. There's like 5 or 6 songs before this that are for warm ups. THere's like 15 songs after this. This is the start of the War.

Thank you man. One of the best bands in the world. And so underrated. They have a game with Manowar. Sometimes VS pisses on M, sometimes M pisses on VS. But if you get the best from these two bands..., man, you are in for a ride.

There's a heavy Manowar influence. The singer sounds like Eric Adams at times. I also hear some Iron Maiden (Seventh Son of a Seventh Son era), as well as some Savatage thrown in for good measure.

The reason that they are not more popular is that after 2000's House of Atreus Act II, they released an ever worsening stream of piss poor recordings thereby missing the golden age of retro power metal while their amazing 90ties material got lost in the 90ties, when nobody wanted to hear it.

I remember Virgin Steele from the 80s, but I don't remember them sounding this much like Manowar, that sounds just like Eric Adams from Manowar singing.
