Imo, the biggest benefit to living in Central Norfolk is the easy access you have to the region. You can be on the interstate as soon as 3-10 minutes, downtown or town center in about 15 minutes, the oceanfront in 20-30 minutes. If you travel alot, the airport and amtrak are very close. While I agree that Virginia beach has more shopping volume, access really depends on what part of the city you live in. Norfolk is a much smaller city as far as area goes, compared to Chesapeake or Virginia Beach, so it usually doesn't take longer than 10 minutes to drive to a decant grocery store from any part of Norfolk, and the convenience stores are plentiful (and very redundant). Another benefit is that Norfolk has decant public transportation compared to the other two cities, so while I wouldn't go carless by choice unless I live in the urban core(Downtown, Ghent, Old Town Portsmouth, Berkeley, and the rest of western Norfolk), car troubles are not the end of the world in Norfolk, and getting around the city isn't too difficult without one. Central Norfolk ain't perfect, but it's great for those who have to travel all over the region.

What neighborhood is this, starting at the 18:25 mark when you started discussing townhouses? I like the architecture of these, and they look newer.

The best thing about this area is the military's impact on the economy. A lot more stable as money is always coming in. The worst thing about the military is that transient people often do not invest in their communities. Often not voting or volunteering.

parts of Norfolk have crime issues, Realtor used to be able to address that issue but no longer allowed.

There are crime issues in all of the Hampton roads cities depending on the area. Norfolk is smaller by area. Of course it’ll be concentrated in a smaller area vs va beach.

Im a local here Virginia Beach used to be a very nice place Not anymore. Its become a very creepy and unsafe place to live! I wouldn't even come here on vacation. Visit out of the country like Thailand. The people are not very nice here or welcoming.

The craziest thing about the east beach section of Ocean view is that you can pay nearly $800,000 for a house, and still have no grocery store nearby, and drug dealers and prostitutes nearby

The roads in Norfolk are so damaged. There is constant construction that leads to only one lane being open on the already narrow highway, and too many areas have no lights at night. Something about the way the street signs look also bothers me for some reason.

Greenbrier is the best place to live in Chesapeake no question... VA Beach is the most livable city. Norfolk has very few places worth living. Ghent, downtown (which is super expensive) and that is really it
@shanceeaton9508Ай бұрын
Definitely not Chesapeake, worst interstate system I’ve ever seen, and super slow drivers , city layout makes no sense. They keep building houses but whole city full of two lane roads. Literally a nothing ass city with 300,000 people I don’t even think there’s a bowling alley in Chesapeake if there is , it’s in bumbafuck nowhere. Worse city planning I’ve ever seen. Takes 20-30 minutes to go anywhere , 40 minutes if it’s the day time unless you pay a toll everyday.
