Virginia City is the Wild West

Virginia City, NV may be set in the 1800′s but the entertainment is timeless! It is a town rich in history and the home to a lot of firsts and lasts. Mark Twain first used his pen name here, Janice Joplin joined what would be her first band and they have the last full speed stagecoach ride.
There is an ever evolving calendar of events and something different almost every weekend! There are wild west show downs, themed balls, silly parades and museums galore. You can walk the town and enjoy the shops and saloons or dig in your heels and try every adventure. I love costumes and you have to love a town where you can dress in 19th century attire and blend in. With so much to do, the only thing you will have to worry about is how many days you can spare to stay.

I was just there last week and it exceeded my expectations by far, even though there was a vintage car show going on, so there wasn't much parking. My favorite part was probably the stage coach ride because I got to ride shotgun!

I love Virginia City, been there a few times and i wanna go back. There's something about stepping foot on the old planks that make up the sidewalk that just sends you back in time. I'm only about 4 hours away but i could easily live there.

If you guys ever get back to that area check out the Genoa Bar in Genoa City NV, about 15 miles south of Carson City. It's the oldest continuing operating Saloon in Nevada. starting sometime in the mid 1800's. It's been used as a movie set and Rachel Welsh's bra hangs in it. Great beer. You can google it for more info. Also, for a fine dinner on the outskirts of Virginia City stop at the Gold Hill Hotel. I had the Bison Dinner and it was wonderful. The hotel is even haunted. They also have a website.

Really miss that place. A few years ago I went on a road trip all through Nevada. Virginia City was one of the best small towns. I had no idea Janis and The Dead played there. Crazy! Makes me want to go back

Thanks for sharing this experience of Virginia city, the city seems very much alive contrary to what I thought it becomes a nice town resort, I was expecting to see some horse race with the Pinto horse of little Joe Carthwight not a ostriches race never mind but very nice video.

Spent the weekend at the Silver Queen, rm 11. Definitely haunted!!! Two of us saw a disembodied head of a lady floating above the door. Wife won't let me take my Ouija board when we stay there. 😒 bummer!

I grew visiting Virginia City and I visited a few years back and....this is seriously the most tourist-hated destination I have ever been to. The bar and casino owners were absolutely nasty to me and the shop owners completely indifferent. PLEASE avoid this town.
