AI can undoubtedly extend human capabilities in remarkable ways. But it has already begun to disrupt the integrity of education while threatening jobs and amplifying human bias through its algorithms. Nurturing a responsible approach to this technology involves monitoring the design of these systems and their societal role, all while keeping in mind a slew of important ethical considerations. Recent AI developments, like large language models (LLMs), raise questions about the need to change the AI paradigm and the role of developers. In the deployment of AI, trust, cooperation, and the common good are critical. In conversation with EVA KONZETT, political editor at FALTER, VIRGINA DIGNUM highlights why regulation and governance are essential as stepping stones for innovation.
