It's truly refreshing to hear how Virginians for HSR are taking such a meticulous and evidence-based approach to their work, and that the State of Virginia is putting in major work to fix that bottleneck between DC and Alexandria!

It really is. Now we just need to use this project to inspire Maryland to do more with their rail. It's been too long since commuter rail has been done like this, and the Purple Line is still years away after years and years of delays. Maryland traffic and roads are deteriorating even more than VA. Im proud that VA started a project like this.

Thanks to ARA clearance standards. The CSS found a way to ship 144” steel plate on flatcars past high level platforms.

The interstate 64 Median is wide enough for most of its route to provide space for a right of way for two tracks supporting high speed rail along a scenic route. All trees cut down for the high speed line would be replaced.

the lin should be routed under either the penagon or better yet national airport

richmond-new york tains should with the faster line be extended east onto long island to ronkonkoma in about the same time as the slower traind to penn station now take.

Dedicated passenger railway lines are only means for reducing road traffic. Expanding existing roads and highways will never alleviate traffic congestion.

I am especially interested in a high speed rail from Richmond to Charlottesville and to Clifton Forge as this high speed line would revitalise the economy of Allegheny County in general and Clifton Forge Virginia. Commuter high speed rail from Clifton Forge to Charlottesville and then to Richmond would open up affordable housing in Clifton Forge for people who work in Charlottesville and Richmond. No matter how much expansion is provided for Interstates 81 and 64 traffic congestion is inevitable. The right of way already exists along Interstate 64 to facilitate the high speed dedicated line running through the median of Interstate 64.

Traveling by rail especially for commuters is always preferable to driving a motor vehicle and dealing with unrelenting traffic congestion because no matter how many lanes are added these lanes will in time be filled with motor vehicles and the congestion is inevitable.
