Virginia Solo Squirrel Hunt Limit | Shooting a Savage A22 with ATN 4k Pro 5x20

In this video I'm going on a solo squirrel hunt with my Savage A22 topped with an ATN 4k Pro 5x20 digital scope. I just started getting serious about squirrel hunti g last year. As a kid I call myself squirrel hunting but never got more than one or two on a couple outings. I enjoy the challenge of such a small target. Great video. Gearing up for squirrel season here in NC. Love that you post your hits and misses. Squirrel hunting isn’t easy and too many videos just focus on the good shots. We’re not all “snipers” right 😅. Great work. God is good. Keep it up.

Gotta trust your rifle and scope, gotta go for head shots with a .22 LR. You're taking body shots to accommodate zeroing and/or aiming errors. If the gun shoots to point of aim, trust it and hold on the head.

What time of day are you hunting. I’m in Fluvanna county. Been out 3 times this year in the morning. I’ve seen a couple and heard a couple but haven’t gotten a shot off yet. I’m also on public land.

Most are in the evening. I like to get out about 2-3 hrs before sunset. I've considered public land to have more places to go.

I've mainly been hunting my family farm and I don't think I've ever seen one. I've maybe seen 1 red squirrel I can remember from years ago. Plan to try some public land and state forrest before the season ends. So you never know.

Yes we have them here. I am in NC and hunt the subspecies found on the coast to the Piedmont. just west of me we have the subspecies found in the foothills of NC and Va.. we rabbit hunt alot. let me know if you want to rabbit hunt sometime or do a collab fishing as i fish a lot too. my fishing channel is Macks Extreme river Fishing. I fish Virginia right much

Your sights are wobbling around too much for you to be accurate. What I do to combat this is to use an old crutch adjusted to my height for a rifle rest. If you use a crutch, your accuracy will improve.

Sometimes it is tough to find a good rest on the nearest tree. I've got a bog deathgrip tripod but haven't used it yet.
