Also, Love the way responded vs. Virginia after that heartbreaking loss against Georgia. Elite teams respond with a big win, we did just that against a good Virginia team. It feels like we are on the cusp of being an elite program once again. If we dont get to play in the CFP this year then we will be in a New Years Six, but have too win, to prove we belong in the Top 5 with Bama, Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State.

Virginia has 2 very talented recievers and I see Reed playing on Sundays. Perkins is a very good QB he just needs his Oline to give him some protection. The Virginia defense played ND very well and is also very talented. I will be rooting for the Cavaliers the rest of the season unless of course they happen to play the Irish in the post season.

We didn't play well enough on offense to win, our defense is ELITE!!!! Bryce Perkins is a very impressive athlete. Props to UVA, for a very hard fought game. Our D-Line is Top 3 in the country. Kyle Hamilton is probably already on most people's 1st Team Freshman All-America lists, obviously. P.S. Note to Notre Dame equipment manager....bravo, you've finally nailed the gold gleam and hue. His job first and foremost is to make good decisions and he did for the most part. he had no int's and he avoided being sacked. Nd was good on 3rd it just seemed like they didn't have the ball much after those 1st 2 td drives. UVA had ball a lot but a lot of those drives ended with turnovers. Finke muffed punt and that onsides kicked cost book 2 posessions.

Don't get me wrong I think Book is a good college QB but he has missed numerous wide open wide recievers in every game this year and it continued yesterday. In order for ND to be an elite squad and beat top 10 teams they need to have a balanced offensive attack which they do not or least they have not except for the game against New Mexico.

Offense really needs to play better, especially in the passing game. We could have hung 50+ on UVA if they were playing even decent. I’m starting to sense this may be the beginning of the end for Chip Long if things don’t start improving soon - especially in big games.

I wouldn’t hate on the offense. I will take short passes to set up the run game for touchdowns all day long. The run game is what has to improve and they did just that yesterday. You win football games by controlling the clock and moving the ball down the field by a good solid run game. A passing TD now and then is great and if you have a strong defense you will win 90% of the time. You can’t rely on Ian’s arm every game. One dimensional won’t get you there. Good game by the Irish yesterday.

mile de julia You nailed it. The game has changed dramatically, with spread, pass-happy offenses, sometimes to the point that a solid ground game is almost forgotten. But if you don't have a respectable, even dangerous run game, your one-dimensional offense will be shut down by elite teams. This was shown against Georgia. The Irish rushed for less than 50 yards, over 100 less than Georgia. It's impossible to know if the improved ground game against Virginia was a result of Irish improvement or simply that Georgia has a better defense, or both. The offensive line can pass block, as was shown in both games. But run blocking has got to improve. I see at least one or two more losses if Notre Dame rushes for less than 50 yards, as they did in Athens.

I dont know... I'm a UVA fan and I didnt see anything wrong with that. Happens to visitors at all stadiums and it's not a big deal. It's a part of the college football experience. I was at the game and I give the ND fans credit. They were rooting for their team really hard but most of them at the stadium were never disrespectful.
