Looked like you had some rly inexperienced and antsy hunters with ya. If they’re willing to learn it’s usually a fun time

I have hunted there this year. We shot 2 geese 3 mallards 2 red heads 5 teal and a black duck

I dont see anything wrong with water swatting, but u sure do fill a lot better when u hit it before it lands or while its flying!

Dang. Seems like almost everywhere is slow right now.
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Yeah Virginia is pretty dead right now across the state. Some birds are starting to be killed on the bigger rivers though even though it's not cold so I may start trying them pretty soon.
@Tecman125 жыл бұрын
It is very slow in Oklahoma.

you know its bad when your water swatting ruddies...
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
I'd never shot one so I was keen to get one. They sure as hell weren't gonna fly, we shot at them and they're reaction was to just swim away...

Blind #7 at hog island, killed 10ducks out of that blind on opening day, shovelors, ruddies, teal, buffie
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Nice, the puddle ducks did not want to play in that impoundment on this hunt. Could have definitely killed a few more ruddies and buffleheads though.

Seasons going well for me. Shot 46 birds and the season just is halfway over. I'm shooting a lot of woodies buffies and scoter. Few teal, gadwall and wigeon. In NC
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Damn sounds like you're having a great season so far! Good luck down there for the rest of the season, don't think y'all are gonna be getting many new birds from us anytime soon...
@carolinatide58845 жыл бұрын
Virginia Outdoors Unlimited I have been lucky this year on being on the birds. Lots of people here are saying birds arnt here but the woodies buffies ans scoter have been here in strong numbers since November. Just started killing something different in my swamp hole and shot a gadwall and my first wigeon and teal along with a few woodies these last few hunts I've been on there. Best of luck!

Back in the day when are shells got wet we started diipping wax on top of the shell to water prof them works great no fails try this
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Huh I will look into trying that. Thanks.

Man, you are hunting with these guys! They let you tag along! I don’t know why you do that every single hunt on your page telling someone when to shoot. It is not your hunt so don’t act like it pal.

not my ruddy duck
@jmac50095 жыл бұрын
Ruddy ducks technically aren't classified as divers
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
I've heard that, they dive to eat vegetation in pretty deep water though so they're divers to me.
I quit using Remington shells because of that reason
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
I will be too if this kind of stuff continues..

You have to smoke them I smoke most of my ducks but diver are always put in the smoker, geese are great that way also.
@OwenHelman5 жыл бұрын
@@brandongreen9381 how do you smoke them? want geese recipes
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Ruddies were actually quite good tasting, buffleheads will be going into jerky because I'm not a fan of them cooked regularly.
@brandongreen93815 жыл бұрын
@@OwenHelman most of the time I just find a good dry rub I like and use that , 160 degrees for a couple hours depending on how much your smoking and what smoker you use.let them soak in water for a few hours changing it once it starts to turn red to get as much blood out as you can that helps them taste better on my opinion.
@Toobluejzs1474 жыл бұрын

Yeah they did the same thing to me last season, gonna switch shells pretty soon if it continues. Only reason I continue to use them now is because they pattern almost perfectly out of my gun.

Season just about over in ct we have birds here but we have so much water they are everywhere. It's hard to stay on there trail because they bounce around. We had 3 in of rain the other day and more to come this week. We have alot of mallards and geese around and lots of divers also. Merry Christmas, good hunting spot good video , it's nice just being out there enjoying nature with some buddies.
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Damn that's a ton of rain, we've had a lot here as well and it's made conditions pretty similar. Merry Christmas to you as well, and good luck in the last few days of the season!

My season ends on January 9th so im going tomorrow to try and get some mallards with our new mojo
@HokeOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Good luck man! Hope the new mojo works out for you. One tip, if it's a cloudy day I'd shut it off after the first hour of light, they didn't seem to like ours much the other day after that time.
@bradleykmdean5 жыл бұрын
@@HokeOutdoors thanks for the tip i might video it if i get my camera mount set up. Some of the divers around here are eating huge schools of emerald shiners and getting too fat to take off and are really slow when you shoot them they cough up tons of fish. Id say all the birds except puddle ducks are not shy yet you can paddle up to them and get with in shooting range of from kayak.
