Fantastic rendition! It almost makes Viridian Forest less of a daunting challenge and more of a stroll in the park
@EricLTrombone2 жыл бұрын
Hard agree! That's one of the things I really enjoyed about the arrangement that was written for Gold/Silver/Crystal - you have a Pokemon game under your belt, so Viridian Forest is far less daunting than might've seemed when playing it for the first time in RBY.

Really good. The chord progression took me straight to Chirp from Minecraft.

This is such a simple melody originally. You did a great job complicating it, and soloing over it, that’s tough! Also you sound awesome as usual. Keep it up!

Have you seen 8 Bit Music Theory's video on the music from GSC? He does a great job exploring why Viridian Forest (and several other tracks) from the Kanto side are so different, and does a great job on it! Following up on that, you really enhanced the whole "victory lap" sense that GSC Viridian Forest has, especially since it leans into your strength being the trombone, which (at least in my mind) carries a sense of tested and verified power. Thanks for the amazing cover!

Damn that solo was good. I’m currently learning improvisation any tips?
@EricLTrombone2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! As far as getting started improvising, I'd recommend learning some of your favorite melodies by ear in all 12 keys (I started with Mary Had a Little Lamb, later graduated to a bunch of my favorite video game music). This helps train your ear to learn how to hear melodies, and trains your technique to be able to play in some keys you might not be as familiar with. From there, listen a TON to your favorite jazz musicians. Listen for their sound, tone, lines, phrasing, and try to pick up on those things - eventually start to transcribe your favorite solos and even learn parts of those in all 12 keys. If you have more detailed questions feel free to email or DM me - my degree was in Jazz Performance and I'm always happy to talk shop on that front!

@@EricLTrombone tsm, I’ve already started to listen to a ton of jazz and I started transcribing, so glad I have a head start
