I did consider the F-14 stick (as I've recently got the F-14) but I suspect that this wouldn't necessarily be the best stick for use with the various aircraft I fly in DCS.

I appreciate the review and heads-up about tuning and configuring the Virpril product. I would, however, have liked to hear your opinion on the fidelity of the Virpril product(s) versus the Thrustmaster product(s). Is the Virpril base and stick more responsive, or a better "feel", than the Thrustmaster base? Would the Virpril base plus Thrustmaster grips be the ultimate setup?
@silentone111111115 жыл бұрын
Michael Powell virpil base vastly better. Very smooth. Thrustmaster grip works fine. You can compensate re the extra weight by changing the springs if you need too. A slight issue is there is no lock to stop the grip twisting. Which is a bit irritating.

Nice review Spud! I am also having issues with the connectors. Yesterday I disconnected my grip in order to change the angle, plug back in, just to not being recognised again. @TheSd1cko5 жыл бұрын
@@Al-Azraq So did you change the cams and / or springs then to cause this? I only ask because I didn't think this was possible without doing this? I left mine as stock and there's not enough slack in the cable on mine for it to go anywhere other than where it should I don't think. I'm slightly concerned because I don't use the base on a proper mount, instead I have a homemade centre mount on a seat that I then use thumbscrews to secure it to whenever I play DCS. I don't want to end up unintentionally doing the same as you guys by attaching and detaching the base to its mount 2 or 3 times a week.

The cams feel awful. Planes don't have constant variation of resistance either, it depends on the speeds and if controls are boosted or not. So you just change a broken watch with another. Also on fly by wire planes is completely useless "realism". Also any side mount renders the cams idea dumb. I still wait for a magnetic FFB stick that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I had the G940 and for all its bads it could reproduce the variable resistance speed dependant and also could reproduce the heli trim. This cams... bleah... Supposedly they have the benefit of giving the feel of separation between Ailerons and Elevator... like in RL... thanks... not needed while flying from a desk in a warm living room feeling nothing from the flight itself. I prefer having no separation like the Warthog stick provides than having same awful separation no matter the plane and/or situation.
