Episode Notes:
1. Saturn and XB360 versions running on real hardware.
2. The Saturn version of VF3 was rumored to use an accelerator cartridge to help the Saturn render the polygons. I'd love to see how far that got in development.
3. There was also a version in the works that was basically just like VF2 here. No 3D backgrounds but running at 704x480 and 60fps. Would have liked to have seen that as well.
4. A PC version was based on the Saturn release at the time. It allowed for higher polygon fighters but still had 2D backgrounds.
5. Virtua Fighter 2 used the knowledge gained from Virtua Fighter Remix and the creation of the SGL(Sega Graphics Library). Had Sega been properly prepared at launch with this knowledge, 3D development could have been so much easier for 3rd parties.
6. VF2's engine is not perfect. It still has texture and polygon glitches here and there. It also has hitching and slowdown, though infrequently.
7. This also includes the 2.1 update from the arcade. You turn it on in the options and it tweaks the gameplay and AI a bit.
8. There are a number of Easter eggs in this one. You can play against the letters character from the name input screen, and you can use Dural.
9. While I appreciated Sega's attempt to bring 3D caged fighting and light sourcing into the Fighting Vipers and Fighters Megamix engines, I still prefer the high rez look of this.
10. This game is a nightmare to capture for. The Framemeister hates it. It switches resolution frequently, so there are 5 second or more video drops all the time. Dead or Alive is another one that does it terribly.
