But then it loses its unique flair. Part of what makes it fun is its goofiness. Tekken's lore is bullshit, yet it takes itself so seriously. I don't want any of that for VF.

I disagreeeeeeee, but whatever. Honestly, I don't think it'll ever recapture its mid-Nineties popularity, anyway. Fighting games just don't take the world by storm like that, any more. At best, it'll be something that the larger FGC focuses on for a little while. But copying Tekken is just not the way to go.

And I disagree. I don't think that in and of itself will make the series more popular. If anything, it'd just work as fanservice for people who already care, who are already invested in the franchise and its characters. No one outside of the FGC is likely to care or notice. I'm not saying I wouldn't appreciate these things - at least some of them - but it isn't the major boost in popularity as you're suggesting.

I'm with Mitsuraga on this one Part of VF's charm is how they've still been using the same sound effects since the first game. To me, that really embraces it's status as THE classic 3D fighting game
