Virtua Fighter Kids playthrough (SEGA Saturn) (1CC)

Playthrough with Jacky. Virtua Fighter Kids features super deformed versions of everyone from VF2. Now given that it has "kids" in the title, you might think it'd be an easier game to beat than Virtua Fighter 2. Wrong! It's still idiotically hard. It isn't too bad until the fifth stage, and then by stage eight it gets impossible.
There is, thankfully, a trick to use against the CPU. And it's really easy: just mash the punch button. Jacky will do a 3 punch combo, and most of the time, the CPU will either get hit by or or block. Either way they will also be moved back. And if you keep doing this, you can just ring them out every time!

One thing that I never really understood is why it's called "Virtua Fighter Kids" These characters are still clearly adults, but just pint-sized. Why not call the game "Chibi Virtua Figter" or "Virtua Fighter SD" instead? Hell, the tile "Mini Virtua Fighter" would work just as well. I don't know, it's just kinda weird...

whats the purpose on creating this game? Its just Virtua Fighter. Same move set, same background, same everything. They only change the character sprite and voices. They should've take Pocket Fighter as an example. The gameplay and moveset is different than Street Fighter. Not just changing the character sprite.

To be fair there was still a high demand for VF2 arcade cabinets at the time and since the model 2 boards were quite expensive to produce Sega decided to make a version of VF2 for a weaker but cheaper arcade system which is identical to the saturn, of course they didn't want to use vf2 saturn because people would call them lazy so they just made a chibi version of VF2 since a cartoony approach would be easier to make look good in a weaker system and because why not. I really like games like these, they remind us from an era in gaming where companies used to experiment or make games out of nowhere even if no one asked! But nowadays companies are scared of even wasting a penny.

Fun Fact: This game, if I’m in the right order about this, was based on the versions of VF2 with customizable assets such as the size of the ring, health bars, and the characters heads… it was used to test facial expression animations for VF3.

The gameplay is NOT the same. They have shorter bodies, so their hitboxes and attack range is completely different. That's why Fighters Megamix added Kids Sarah and Kids Akira alongside their normal counterparts.

Also, the music, voices, and backgrounds have been altered as well. It's not as lazy as you claimed it to be.

Street Fighter also had several updates that were much more simplistic, such as Champion edition and Hyper Fighting, which were barely any different that the original SFII. Far more effort was put into VF Kids.
