About the comparison and its meaning... Interestingly, the essence of this comparison is exactly the same as the previous comparison, which was about the game Daytona USA on Dreamcast versus the Xbox 360 version... And why is the essence exactly the same? Because, just like the Dreamcast's Daytona USA was a kind of remake that blends the Arcade Daytona USA with the Daytona USA CCE from the Sega Saturn, here in Virtua Racing for PS2 the same thing happens. The PlayStation 2 version is a remake that combines the Arcade Virtua Racing with the Virtua Racing Deluxe from the Sega 32X.... on the other side, referring to the versions of Daytona USA for Xbox 360 and Virtua Racing for Nintendo Switch, both are HD versions remastered from the Arcade version, which means that the content of Daytona USA for Xbox 360 and Virtua Racing for Nintendo Switch is limited to the Arcade content, meaning it won't have additional content like other cars and tracks. Another common aspect in the comparison between Virtua Racing for PS2 and Nintendo Switch compared to Daytona USA for Dreamcast and Xbox 360 is the fact that people complain about the differentiated gameplay found in the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 versions of the respective games compared to the Arcade versions. However, people forget that both Daytona USA for Dreamcast and Virtua Racing for PS2 were not created with the aim of replicating the original Arcade versions but rather to remake and improve them... whether that pleases you or not is another story. In my case, I see nothing wrong with Dreamcast's Daytona USA, just as I see nothing wrong with Virtua Racing for PlayStation 2, which in turn has much more content (Cars and Tracks) than the Nintendo Switch version. The same can be said for Dreamcast's Daytona USA compared to Daytona USA for Xbox 360... But let's forget about Dreamcast's Daytona USA and Xbox 360 for now, to focus on the comparison here between PS2 and Nintendo Switch, okay? The Nintendo Switch version is widescreen; however, the Arcade Virtua Racing, when released way back in 1992, was also widescreen in its Deluxe version (the more expensive version of the game that imitated a formula 1 car), but the normal version was 4:3... this is curious because in 1992, people didn't even think that this would be the standard format for displays in the future regarding TVs, Monitors, Cell Phones... although Cell Phones were not common at that time. It was also one of the first games with 3D graphics... In short, what I want to say is that the widescreen found in the Nintendo Switch version is nothing new because it was already present in the initial version of the game in 1992. Yes, Virtua Racing was a game far ahead of its time in many aspects. Regarding the Nintendo Switch version, when the game was released, it came with those faded colors, and after much complaint, SEGA decided to release an update after a year to provide a color option to make the color closer to the arcade version. I didn't show this in the video because, as you already know, I show everything in default settings or factory settings, even with the update, the player has to manually change the settings if they wish... I also see no problem with those faded colors. Some companies prefer to opt for these colors for many reasons, but it's not appropriate to explain them here at the moment... But I'll speak from my point of view, in competitive online PC games, I always choose to make the color black gray, precisely because the black color can hide many details, and when the black color is slightly gray, it's always easier to see if there's an enemy hiding in the dark. It's like a saying from the game THIEF for PC, "Don't be afraid of the Dark, but what's Hidden in It." I don't even like the game Thief, but when I saw that phrase on the game's box, I automatically found it impactful, which only loses to another phrase from another PC game I saw at the time, which was Unreal from 1998, where on the box it said, "When players die in Quake II, this is where their souls come to rest."

Is that what you doing in the beginning with the RGB setting? To show the default? Also the Switch version has some cool car physics. The body adjusts to every turn. The PS2 version looks kind of weird when it turns.
@vcdecide9 ай бұрын
@@JohnCharb87 Yes, it was to demonstrate that both the Switch and the game are in their default/factory settings. If I hadn't shown it, some people would say that the capture is wrong, that the colors are not faded, and among other things. I always compare with the factory settings, whether it's from the console or the game. Each console has its own factory setting, and each developer chooses its own factory settings, and so on. Regarding the skidding during curves in the PS2 version... the PS2 version features cars from other categories that better match this type of gameplay.

While the PS2 version may be better in shading and roundness of tires, along with deeper blacks, the Switch version better captures the design and spirit of the arcade original. However, the PS2 does look better and has all the extras you want in a home version of the game. This makes it the overall better pick. Winner: PS2

While ps2 graphics are clearly more advanced, I prefer Switch's fidelity with regard to the arcade, and fluidity, as Switch is able to hold its ground with 8 players simultaneously!
@jordanscherr66999 ай бұрын
I personally like the infinite draw distance, But can see how it breaks the games design. So the 8 player you're referring to and draw distances it introduces are quite helpful in a way. That's probably the best way to play it over all! (If you can find that many people to play it with!) Oh, how we have come along way though! The same game at a fluid 60fps frame rate across 8 screens on one system. And not even the strongest system out there either! You want to play it on a big 1080 TV at that point, but impressive nevertheless!
@danielposey06209 ай бұрын
The gamma on the Switch version is cranked up to 11, lol
@jordanscherr66999 ай бұрын
I think the debate comes down to if you like the infinite draw distant or not. The PS 2 is enhanced with a longer draw distance, but still has the pop in which the origin game also had. With the switch, you begin to notice those design changes in the background when the draw distance gets extra extra long. So in a way, 8 players simultaneously and the draw distance it introduces create the best experience. P.S. They added controls to correct the gamma, so it's possible to make it look deeper and richer like the original version.
