Been using virtual desktop since I got my quest 3 and it's easily the best app I've gotten for it. I can legit play any of my PC games on a screen projected on the whole wall. It's glorious

Was going to return my Quest 3. Having issues with Virtual Desktop. Every time I launched the app. I't would not show my pc screen. Even though my connection is with the USB3 to USB C cable. But after watching your video. Going to give it another shot.

Great video, Thumbs up! Learned a few things to test out, I have a very high end pc would be somewhere in the Ultra/Godlike setting, But I just had everything selected thinking it was probably the best, I will turn off snapdragon super resolution and also change the codec to H264+ and see if I can improve quality in anything. This is exactly the sort of videos people want, where you explain how and why a certain setting should or shouldn't be used, Many just skip over the details and no one learns anything.

i just installed VD on my new headset yesterday because its 40% off thanks to black friday here in the US and ill eventually want to set it up. i wanna try the VR mod for Final Fantasy 14 and any games needing online access might as well be played on steam where i can keep my games even if i change my headset. im glad this video poped up on my feed

Very informative video finally but how to play Steam game like ETS2 for an example on Virtual desktop. Now I play with Oculus link + Steam VR and I use "-oculus" switch. Game performance is really bad on my nvidia 4070 now. :)

Is there a way to have a moving window for your virtual desktop? I want to use opentrack in combination with virtual desktop (metaquest 3)...... but the virtual desktop is static. I want to look left and have the virual desktop move with my head and the opentrack headtracking app will makethe content of my 2d game move acording to where i look, while still being able to see my keyboard and trackball/mouse outside of the virtual screen edges because of passthrough mode. This should create a fake 3D view that looks through a desktop window that moves along with your head, for example in a flightsimulator you could look around just by looking while still playing on mouse and keyboard. If the virtual desktop stays in the same spot it would kinda beat the purpose of using the headset with a virtual desktop headtracking game. I have been looking around but only found vorpx.... it turn it completly into VR...... but then i will not be able to see my keyboard in the corner of my vision.

Very useful video!! I've never owned a VR headset, but am really interested in the Quest 3. Using the Quest 3 to do better work on my computer is the main focus for me. Word documents, youtube, excel spreadsheets, other internet pages, etc. How many screens can I VR project out to use? My internet is wireless, but still fast, 232.3 mbps download on average, 47.3 mbps upload on average. Do I have to have a cable connecting to the wireless router?

Depends on your wifi. If you have a great wifi: push it up! Too high bitrate can affect the latency negatively

AV1 looks best for rtx4000 cards only, with VDXR . on not fast games you can drop the mps to 100- 120MPS aswell and play it on Ultra or 120fps ad long monitor and steam home is not running.

Decoding latency goes up for me when AV1 goes above 100 ish mbits. Doesn’t really matter much tho, I can’t see the difference between 100 and 150 mbits on AV1

RTX 3050 is not supported, see the list of supported GPUs in the technical specifications of Quest 3. So you need to buy a better graphics card.

I had virtual desktop on my pc from Steam but returned it after I was just so lost on what to do. I still have the icon on my desktop but says no license when I click on it. I've tried to buy it again but not sure what's going on. It seems to download and install but the icon wont run it. Also My graphics card seems to launch VD inside of it's program. Not sure how or why. What is the best way to get it back on my pc. And is streamer the same thing?

My Virtual Desktop keeps randomly freezing. I'll be playing fine and then it just stops and the image freezes in the headset. If I take my Quest 3 off and look at my computer, everything is running fine on Steam and the Game that I'm playing. The issues is Virtual Desktop. So I have to back out of VD in the headset and then restart it. It will connect again and I'll be able to keep playing until the next freeze (which could be anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes away). Can anyone help?

Afew Days Ago While Launching Shadow From The Wolvic Web Browser And Connecting Virtual Desktop I Once Again Was Able To Turn The Quest 3 Into A True Standalone Max Settings Monster.
