I had to stop the video, just to say "You could never over explain something." I feel the more you say it the more it sticks. Thank you for doing so.

hi, i was wondering how important do you think it is to include the specific measurements of at the end of your answer on the ged test? like inches, square units, cubic units, etc. could it potentially affect scoring if i don't even bother?
@LightandSaltLearning
@LightandSaltLearning 8 ай бұрын
It likely won't affect your scoring at all as I doubt they'll even make you put it there. The main reason I stress it so much is I want you to have the mathematical reasoning that goes along with it (ie I see square units, I know I'm talking area), so that you will have a much better chance of interpreting the geometry word problems that the GED loves so much!

Hello, love your videos. Question on number 7 not related to the units. When finding the volume of that triangle prism, why didn't we use the formula: V=1/2*b*h*l The answer is still the same but much lazier/easier than V=Bh. Thank you!

Wonderful question. Since B, in this case the area of a triangle, is 1/2b*h, your formula is exactly equivalent to mine. I used mine because it is the generic right prism formula, which is on the formula sheet. By knowing how to use just the one formula, you don't have to memorize multiple specific right prism formulas. I try to cut down on rote memorization as much as possible in my vids. But if you already know them, go for it!

@@LightandSaltLearning be nice if the formulas for those prisms were on the formula sheet. I only learned it when I paused the video to Google where I went wrong and stumbled across that formula and tried it. Thank you for the response and videos!

On number 4 I put 9x9x11x11x9x9x17x17x11x11x17x17 like it said and got 8.02299 so forth. No matter how it's inputted (9x9= than 11x11= than 9x9= ect) it just gives me 9.0299.... wonder what I did wrong?

Hello Ms. Kate this is Verinda with KY Adult Education using your SA & V video and I have a question regarding #7....I noticed that the unit measures are not the same does this matter? The base of the prism shows a height of 4.2cm and a base of 6m...should we need to convert to have the same unit measurements to work with to find B=area of the base or does this matter in a question such as this? Also the height of the prism is 15cm...just a little confused. Thank you and absolutely enjoy your videos.

O my goodness. How distracted was I when I taught this class!?! I'll clip the vid to remove this so it doesn't lead anymore students astray! Thanks for the eagle eye!

Just watched it. I did mislabel a side, yes, should have all been cm. However, the height of the triangle (used when finding the ARE of the base), is NOT the same as the height of the prism (used when finding the volume of the prism). That is consusing, I know, which is which I clarify that towards the end. I think I'll leave it in afterall (but I wish there was a way I could correct the labeling!)
