you know what would be really scary and break the 'fourth wall'? If you had to run, but you couldn't because the devs purposely made that moment where you feel like you are running in the same spot like one of those bad dreams. That would be SHOCKING!!! :)

Imagine playing an HD shooter game with the Cyberith Virtualizer, Oculus Rift 2 (it has a sensor that acts like the kinect), gun prop controller, BEST QUALITY headset, and a gaming vest that was meant for shooter games (the vest violontly vibrates when you get shot in the shooter game, if u get shot in the shoulder, ur shoulder automatically reacts and moves back a few inches or so, or if there's a nearby explosion, the whole vest vibrates (not violontly) instead of just the controller). It would literally simulate the WHOLE GAME :D

...That would be incredible.. My fiance and I are salivating at that idea because we're huge Halo nerds, and it'd sure be a different experience to really feel that.
@K2DuncaN1
@K2DuncaN1 9 жыл бұрын
Bleu_Ace You could also make a halo helmet (carefully) or buy one and fix it so the oculus rift would be in the helm and the headset would be in the helm also (this is a suggestion, also, don't take out any parts of the rift or headset if u do dis and make sure when u wear the rift and when it is inside the helm, ur eyes are the same distance w/ and w/o the helm w/o modifying the rift and make sure all the wires are connected w/o disconnecting them cause that's how my old headset got messed up) if u want even a greater Halo experience or Destiny or something, add more simulation by making Halo armor (cost $100 or more(tutorials on KZbin everywhere)) but make sure you follow all the safety precautions of making the halo armor. And so you don't make a mistake incase you guys make the halo armor. you'll have to scale the armor to ur bodies. Master Chief is over 8 ft tall. Chances are, most ppl aren't (soz for long message)

+BMTHxxx100 actually you can have pres from any experience(s). This includes video games. if you are experiencing enough stress and put into a potentially traumatic situation (which is very easy with VR and surrounding sound) and exposed to that stress or situation for a long enough time or frequently enought, it can cause long term/lasting psychological effects including PTSD.

dannywithnuggets Of course it can fuck your brain up no matter if you know it's real or not...The exact same thing applies to other games and even movies or generally just plain sounds. If you're exposed to let's say a sound long enough and perhaps even with high volume enough, then your brain is for sure fucked. Same goes with bad pictures, videos etc. I saw a very scary movie when I was about 8 years old, and sometimes I still get my nerves going, so yes, the answer is a guranteed, a definitely YES to the thread starter's question.

Carrie Parsley As amazing as that full body immersion for the Oculus Virtualizer is, I'm worried about the effects it could possibly have on the brain. How much reality can a human really take before the brain thinks this is actual danger and cause a possible heart attack. Similar to how people get that split second falling dream. other than that, I definitely would love to give this a test run!

It really is difficult to describe and to visualize what it is like. Your brain actually believes that what you are seeing (if the game is well-done) is real. You won't be laughing at all. It's a completely different experience than having to convince your mind that what you are seeing is real - with VR, the tables turn and your mind automatically accepts the virtual reality. I won't go into the psychological and physiological aspects too much -- but as you try it at some point, I think you will not find horror games funny at all :)

Ok so : Head Tracking : check. Full Leg Tracking(including walking/jumping/running) : check The VR scene still needs a proper solution to track hands, while it's perfect for horror games and games in general where you don't need to move your hands, but in fighting games or something you would still need to use your hands a lot.

why do people like scaring themselves ?
@marcuszimmer3623
@marcuszimmer3623 9 жыл бұрын
Probably because it gives some sort of "kick", it's also a way of getting your adrenalin up, and if people can for an example go speeding in the montains with a montain bike just to get the adrenalin pumping, then why wouldn't people be able to just watch a very scary movie (for an example) to get their adrenalin go high as the sky :)? This is at least the reason to why I think people do this, and I guess that's why I like to scare myself sometimes. Being an adrenalin junkie is way better than being a drug addict I'm sure :P

@marcuszimmer3623
@marcuszimmer3623 9 жыл бұрын
Husnain Anwaar That's true too, there's so many other things to do which are way way better and even healthier that yet can make your adrenalin pump. Despite the fact that I myself do like to scare myself just for the sake of that small "kick", I still actually don't understand why I and so many else choose to watch a scary movie or such, it's so stupid and even makes you uncomfortable and scared in for an example the dark when walking home or such.

+Dion Peters I think Virtual Reality would have to have it's own standards of ratings because it simply exceeds the immersion of movies, music and standard video games. Intensity, atmosphere and phobia levels. I'm arachnophobic and there is no way I could play a horror game that featured swarming bugs, insects and giant spiders. That would be an intensity level of 8 with an arachnophobia warning. It would be the same for those who are effected by vertigo or a fear of confined spaces.
@Masta200
@Masta200 8 жыл бұрын
+Duane Locsin Good point. VR is a completely different type of immersion. Imagine playing Alien Isolation in VR. It would be like you are really being hunted by an alien. Although I think I am brave enough to give it a go. I would say I don't scare easily, but I have never experienced a horror game in VR yet
