The Virtuix Omni is a virtual reality gaming platform that lets you walk, run, and move around like you're actually in the game.
It's hands down the most immersive gaming experience we've seen so far. The simulator is currently available to pre-order at $499.
Just strap yourself into the Virtuix Omni platform, put on the Oculus Rift headset, and get ready to run. You have to physically move your body to advance in whatever game you're playing.
So, with the help of CEO Jan Goetgeluk and his Virtuix Omni team, we headed over to the Engadget Expand conference to experience first-hand how this platform works.

It needs a lot of improvement, maybe they could use metal marbles with tracking dots on them for the floor using a tracking laser to track the marbles movement, like in a "mouse" it would require sockets for the marbles to have as less friction as possible why being durable...or it could use mag-lev tech to act as a movement triggers for the opposing megnetic force so a sensor can track movement flawlessly using a movement or pressure sensor while holding you in the air with some sort of elastic garment...

There's a place In Japan where they have a completely empty room, but they give you a gun controller like this, give you a VR headset, and you actually go running around because that giant empty room has A LOT of sensors that track you. So for those people that say what if you want to jump or crouch, you actually can there. Also no wires ;)

This video exposes one of the most fundamental barriers to achieving truly immersive VR gaming. It's not the graphics, it's not the disorientation or nausea... it's simply the physical effort involved. In a conventional FPS, you can rappel out of a heli onto a steep ledge, jump out the window and bolt across a battlefield terrain like a pro athlete dodging bullets and air strikes, while aiming for headshots left, right and center with a couple flicks of your thumbs on the controller. But to simulate that experience in an immersive simulation would mean you'll have to _physically_ perform your stunts, at least to some degree of feedback. Forget about the universal-soldier style FPS action we're currently accustomed to.. you wouldn't even be able to pull off a 5 minute long combo of such competitive gaming without having to pause from exhaustion. Unless of course you train for it like an actual physical sport.. and suddenly it becomes a much less popular pastime than video gaming. Hoping they come up with an idea to solve this specific hurdle, cause honestly I'm a huge fan of the tech, personally.

I was in a open webinar for interested investors. It was actually pretty great on this topic. They say a good portion of R&D is delving down this route & have started talks to medical studies in how what the One can be capable of. I truly believe the VR body station(or whatever you call the unit) could be the next big scientific breakthrough to be apart of human recovery/therapeutics. Generally speaking we all know this would come to be in the future, but it’s amazing to see it’s in arms reach!

Both similes and metaphors are forms of comparison that compare words in a sentence. They can be used to make your sentences more interesting. How are similes and metaphors different? A simile is a word that compares words in a sentence. You can usually tell if a simile is present in a sentence when you see the words as or like. Don ate his salad like a vacuum cleaner. His arms were weak and felt like noodles. The thunder was as loud as fireworks. You can see that the underlined words in the sentences above are compared to each other. The words as and like are bolded to show that a simile occurs in this sentence. Like a simile, a metaphor compares words in a sentence; however, instead of saying that one thing is like something else, a metaphor actually makes one thing become something very different by renaming it. A metaphor can sometimes use words like is, are, or was (and other words) to signal that a metaphor is present. However, a metaphor never uses the words like or as to compare. The smoke was cotton balls billowing from the chimney. You are my hero. The sun was a furnace. You can see in these examples that the first underlined word is actually renamed by the second underlined word. The bolded words are bolded to show that the second underlined word is something else. Similes, Metaphors, and Personification Lesson

@mithshude 7 жыл бұрын
how is the treadmill going to know wich way youre planning to walk? there is one that has been built but its like 3-4m in diameter and has sensors that send you back to the middle when you walk around, sadly no VR but they have a big projector screen hanged up around so you get full 360 and 3d goggles if i remember correctly, also paintball guns that shoot you accurately where you get hit. but as something that you can have at home, i think this is the best option kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5ibc5trnq5ljbs

Not bad. But, I believe an omni-treadmill can be made. That will not let you slip. That has little to no resistance. Cause, you also need to rethink your harness set up for games you can go prone, crouch, and jump in.

It needs a lot of improvement, maybe they could use metal marbles with tracking dots on them for the floor using a tracking laser to track the marbles movement, like in a "mouse" it would require sockets for the marbles to have as less friction as possible while being durable...or it could use mag-lev tech to act as a movement triggers for the opposing megnetic force so a sensor can track movement flawlessly using a movement or pressure sensor while holding you in the air with some sort of elastic garment...

Eh it might not be the Omni but give it 10 years and I bet we’re going to get something out of this VR structure to help in some medical/therapeutic applications. Right now they are trying to milk money from people to push out their home release model so we’ll see where this goes, the potential is there

An omnidirectional treadmill would work too. Or just a 'run' button on the gun or whatever joystick for VR could work too. Barely one finger will be engaged. For fitness though this look better but imagine a flying kick will playing fifa. These gadget has a lot to evolve yet
