Virtual Reality Mountain Biking with Oculus Rift

Not like taking a few jumps on a raked path in the woods like I used to do as a kid-I mean really mountain biking, the kind of thing you'd see on a GoPro commercial. The kind of thing that would almost certainly result in my death if I tried it without practice. Thanks to a motion bike and a VR headset, I got to taste the thrill without the risk. But can I really say "I went mountain biking"?

Haven't been looking too long at VR bikes but this one looks like the best. With the bike stand shifting and bumping to simulate uphill and downhill with bumps in the road and actual shifting to the side of the bike should really add to the immersion. Also the VR bikes that I've seen don't do any of that and just stay still. I hope you can also use this for motorbike VR games without the petals to speed up or down.

dont think so, just look the other screen, is running great.

+wally19 the other guy isn't playing on the rift. I'm pretty sure the stuttering is caused by poor rift optimization and possibly moving out of the tracking cameras range as some games hitch up when you move out of the camera range.

this is not how you ride a real mountainbike.crazy movements from the rider here. almost every move he makes is wrong for real life riding. the brakes are mounted wrong(should be mounted downwards, not good for your wrist. i wonder if there is forcefeed back on this bike simulator, but i assume he need to make these crazy moves to play hte game at all. that looks horrible. conserns: frame size on the fake bike braking feel is probably unrealistic it looks like it got no force feed back for the wheel, so you will nto feel the surface you are riding on to make it mroe realistic it will cost more. you cant realy call it a simulator if its unrealistic,i would nto call it a simulator its more of expensive toy,iwould rather buy a new bike instead. braking forces,wibration in frame the bike should lean foward when riding downhills. i think that making it perfect is impossible. the stem is mounted on a other stem and this is weird,making the steering weird,frame is too small for the rider. they should have a frame that look more liek a real frame and with normal geometry, gear levers or tweist shifters woudl be nice too. the way you adjust the simulator biek here is wrong, as bigger you are ad less responsive steering you get, when you jump it will nto feel liek you are jumping and landing this is more of a whole body balance exercise machine I have been mountainbiking for years.

+Johannes Nilsen allot of do not want to bike in winter, so they get stationary bikes. This sure looks like more fun then a stationary bike, even if it is unrealistic.

Some people don't live close enough to get out to mountain bike regularly or may not really be into the outdoors but still like the idea of mountain biking.. either way, if it gets someone interested in exercise, what's so wrong with that.
