@@muffinmonk genesis came out 2 years before the snes. So the fact that the snes was barely an improvement over the genesis is kind of crazy if you think about it. Can you imagine a console today coming out 2 years after the competition? The crazy thing is that a lot of the games that got ported to snes and genesis, the snes usually had the inferior version with levels being cut. Console Wars Channel goes into a lot of comparisons. Snes wins some, but Genesis wins most.

@farmerfreakeasy95773 жыл бұрын
But the Master System was still releasing games here in the UK 4 years after the official UK release of the SNES, or 6 years after the official Japanese release. The most important thing to point out is that there's at least 3 different versions of Aladdin released by 3 different developers during November 93 and February 94 period: The Master System version was released in 94 by SIMS/Sega, whilst the 2 versions that came out in 93 were released by Capcom(SNES/Game boy advance) and Virgin(Mega Drive/Amiga). Also the Virgin Aladdin version was converted to other formats(NES/Game Boy + Game Boy Colour) by 2 other separate developers. The 8bit - 16bit generation of consoles had a lot more cross-over than today's systems. If you want the nicest looking version of a certain release the SNES or Amiga are generally considered to be your best options.
@GranMaese3 жыл бұрын
@@farmerfreakeasy9577 Actually, the Genesis Aladdin is way better than the snes one, and that's the one you should be comparing, since is the proper 16bit version. The whole point, however, is that this version is an impressive 8bit. And it is!

Fun fact is that Sega licensed SMS to Tec Toy, a company that was founded by a former VP of Sharp Corporation. Some games was made especially for Brazilian market. An example is the port of Wonder boy to "Monica no Castelo do dragão". The game base is exactly the same. In early 90's there were a lot of cartridge rent houses knew as "locadoras" since the prices of the imported cartridges was very expensive to buy one. We used to rent one or two games for the weekend and to try finishing the games we let the SMS turned all night long

In Japan, Nintendo had the biggest share but there was also MSX and PC Engine ahead of the Sega Master System. A grande maioria dos jogos citados antes de '89 na verdade saíram em '90. - Alguns jogos,como Master of Darkness e Columns chegaram a ser lançados em terras brasileiras.

I wonder if "Schtroumpfs" is the longest one-syllable word in any language.

GREAT console 👍. The originally library of games like the Wonder Boy series, Shinobi, Alien Syndrome, Zillion and so on were the peak of the SMS. The Genesis ports were weak. Those games were meant for 16-bit.
