For those of you who are travelling to japan to see the blossoms and are worried you will miss them: don't worry. This particular type of sakura is known to bloom one month early.

@@EnteiIsDoge Those are Kawazu-zakura that blossom in Feb for about a month. Notice the pink hue. The more abundant Somei Yoshino blossoms are pale pink and only last for about 2 weeks.

Sakura season is early this year. Peak bloom is end of March in Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo. If you go further north, they bloom later. I will be going to the Takayama Spring Festivial where the peak bloom is supposed to be the 2nd week of April.
