The Primary / Core / Fundamental and the Ultimate sole objective of the revelation of the Quran has always been to get Guidance from it, that is why it is said that the Quran is a response to our ultimate dua "GUIDE US TO THE THE STRAIGHT PATH" (Surah Fatiha) which we pray to Allah (SWT) in every rakah of salah. The word "Tilawat" means reading of divine scripture which in our case is the Holy Quran, It was revealed in Arabic to the Arabs as it was the language they could understand, comprehend and thus get guidance from it, However for Non-Arabic people to take the word "Tilawat" in a strictly literal sense would be taking a very simplistic understanding of it i.e. to simply recite / read it on a language that we do not understand, it is naive and foolish !! For Non-Arabic people the term "Tilawat" (reciting /reading) of the Qur'an, should be in the language which they can understand / comprehend and thus get the guidance and understanding of it, When the Arabic speaking people did "Tilawat" (recited / read) the Quran they understood it and we don't, so how will we be able to get guidance from it ? Those Scholars who ask Non-Arabic people to do Tilawat (read /recite) in a language which they do not understand are being used by IBLIS as a tool to keep Non-Arabic speakers to understand Allah (SWT) message and guidance. May Allah (SWT) guide these naive scholars and grant them Intellectual Humility to grasp this constructive criticism, and to broaden their intellectual capacity to read and understand the Quran and each individual hadith in the entirety of its context.

Regd the Hadith that reciting (Tilawat/ Reading) of each alphabet of the Qur'an would help us gain ten good deeds, this was said to the Sahaba's whose language was Arabic, the objective of giving them this motivation of the good deeds for each alphabet was to encourage them to read more and more of the Quran, the more they would read it the more they would understand it as it is said that there are endless layers upon layers of wisdom in the Qur'an, the more we read it while pondering and reflecting (Tafakkur and Tadabbur) upon it the more it opens up to its reader, but how would this hadith apply to a non-arabic speaking person !! Don't those who preach us to do recitation / tilawat not realise that it is not our language and we don't understand it, rather one should exhort the Non-Arabic people to read it in the language one understands. This hadith applies to non-arabs too, provided that they read it in the language they understand. That is why Allah (SWT) has arranged for the translations of the Qur'an in all major languages as he is fair and just to all and he wants all of humanity to profit from this sacred guidance. There are some scholars with a blinkered view that this hadith applies equally to both arabic and Non-Arabic people, this is in clear contradiction to the clear and explicit teachings of the Holy Qur'an to read the Qur'an while using your reason and to ponder and reflect upon it, this is said in the Qur'an directly and indirectly nearly seven hundred times, so how would this apply to Non-arabs if they do Recitation (Tilawat/ Reading) unless they learn Arabic or read it in the language they can understand and comprehend.

The Rust of the heart will get removed / polished by recitation of the Quran, this was the response / reply to the Sahaba's, i.e. the more they would Recite ( doTilawat/ Reading) of the Quran, the more their hearts would get polished, Mind you the Sahaba's language was Arabic, the more they would recite (Tilawat/Read) the more they would understand, however applying the same logic to a Non-Arabic (Ajam) has turned us into the muslims that we are of today i.e. not even 0.001% of the Sahaba's as we are asked by our naive scholars to recite (Tilawat/ Read) in a language which we do not understand and are ignorant of its teachings / guidance. My dear respected scholars, you are applying the formula "One Size Fits All", the purpose of reading any book including the Holy Qur'an is to understand and comprehend (Tazakkur and Tadabbur) it, asking non-arabic people to recite (Tilawat/Reading) in a foreign language is the reason we are all so far strayed away from the teachings of the Holy Quran. I find it incredibly that these so called "Scholars" are applying these hadiths equally to Arabs and Non-arabs together, they should interpret and comprehend the hadith in the light of the Qur'an, the Qur'an is filled with instructions to read it with Tafakkur and Tadabbur, to ponder, reflect and contemplate over it, the entire Qur'an is filled up with this message and our so called scholars tell us do to recitation ( Tilawat / Read ) in Arabic even if we don't understand it, this is in clear contradiction and contrary to the teachings Qur'an.
