If you ask Allah for Paradise, then ask Him for al-Firdaws al-A‘la…’ “Allaahumma inni as’aluka al-Firdaws al-A‘la min al-Jannah (O Allah, I ask You for al-Firdaws al-A‘la, [the highest part of Jannah])

Also, is it permissible to read and recite Qur'an, and study the Tafsir in your native tongue, if you don't know Arabic (I'm a revert) and listen to recitations of the Qur'an in Arabic? Is there any reward in this, or just continue to work until I can master Arabic, without expectation of reward until I have advanced in my learning and understanding?

This is exactly what he means by reflecting

I don't think shaikh will answer the qs if he will then it's better than my answer. I am no shaikh . You need to read Qur'an in Arabic with or without understanding the Qur'an. Reading is important. And it's the command in Quran itself. Understanding is also more important for that one can gradually learn Arabic and simultaneously read the tafsir in native language . I hope i answered the qs

There is definitely a great amount of reward we can attain by reading tafsirs in our own native language, reflecting on it and most importantly implementing the lessons into our lives

Yes, it is not only permissible to read the Quran and study it in your own language, it is a must! That is what is rewarded. The point of the Quran is that it is a message that is meant to be understood and acted upon. Reciting in Arabic when you do not understand Arabic has very few rewards in comparison. What the shaykh said about reciting without understanding is just like making random sounds.

shaykh, is it compulsory to have it memorised, or can mastering understanding reach this reward? Jazakhallah khayr for the beautiful lecture
