I love all your videos, great information, told in a clear easy to follow and entertaining way, thank you 😊 A few years ago when I visited Egypt, I applied for a 3 months visa from the Egyptian embassy (consular section), I hold an EU passport. I was granted a visa that allowed me to stay in Egypt for 90 consecutive days .. meaning, I didn’t need to leave the country or renew the visa after 30 days. With the e-visa, I thought the rules may have changed. However, as I am planning on visiting Egypt again, I phoned the embassy and they assured me that they can still give me a single-entry tourist visa that would allow me to stay for 90 consecutive days. So, if you know that you’ll be staying in Egypt longer than 30 days, then phone the Egyptian embassy in your home country to see if they can give you a visa with a longer stay.

Really! Wow, that's interesting. Maybe it is different for Americans? I did ask them at the embassy and for me it was only for 30 consecutive days, I was told I was required to leave after that amount of time. Which is why I decided to just get the 30 day visa on arrival and extend once I was within the country. But thank you for sharing that information, that is really good to know for other travelers.

Better than expected. Wen at 9:30-10:00am got out 11:20am. Extremely packed but they process Americans fast. We did have a rental agreement for a year. Don't know how long we will get but we asked for 2 years. It was quick.

Yes I expected a lot worse when I went the first time as well. Chaotic and nobody was very helpful in telling me where to begin the process, but once I finally figured that out it went quite quickly. Disorganized, but no surprise there. Not sure about Americans being processed faster than others, I saw people from other nationalities getting through just as quickly as me, but regardless it was a faster process than I ever expected it to be. Thanksfor the information in your video it was so helpful. My experience: I went on a Tuesday, took my paperwork, and got my ticket. I paid 1900 Egyptian pounds and was told to return in 2 days time. So on Thursday I arrived early and was told to go back at 4pm. Some blogs say that the office closes at 2pm and I was worried that I'd got l the time wrong. But there I am at 4pm, relieved to see that they were still open. It was incredibly busy. The numbers were being called and later a security man was calling out names and nationalities. After about 2 hours I heard British, and was so happy! I asked for 6 months and that's what I got. I only paid once, not on collection. It seems they stay open until everyone gets their passport back. Brilliant organised chaos! but they get it done so quickly, two days, it's amazing really. And there you are with your shiny new residency card

@Gventures
@Gventures Жыл бұрын
That's a good question! They just recently changed things at the immigration office, and now when you go to apply it takes weeks! I waited a month after applying to receive my extension. They do give you a pink receipt which you can show to any officials that may ask that you did begin the process, but you can't go back and pick it up until 3-4 weeks have passed AFTER applying. It's ridiculous. And the issue with that is, during that time your SIM card stops working because your SIM stops working as soon as your visa expires, and the phone companies won't accept the pink slip to verify that you renewed, so you HAVE to wait to get the actual card back from the immigration office before you can update the phone company. Stupid. Anyway, yes you can go as soon as you want to renew your visa, Egypt doesn't care, just that you are paying. And if anyone asked why you were renewing so soon I would just tell them "I heard it takes a while to receive and I plan on traveling south for a while so I want to have it before I go" or something like that.

Awesome video. Thank you for your content. I’m really looking to move to Cairo for at least a year & get an apartment. No work permit. Are residency permits possible at first or should I just get 30 day visa/evisa, then get the apartment, then get an extension renewal? Also I’m not fluent in Arabic will I be okay?
@Gventures
@Gventures 3 ай бұрын
Not sure. I mean, if you are working then legally you should have some type of work permit or residency, something other than a tourist visa. Probably should figure out how you want to live here and what you plan to do, then start researching possible ways to do that. Many people that just want to experience Egypt for an extended period of time will get a tourist visa on arrival and extend it once here, it's probably the easiest way, if that is all you want to do. You don't need to know Arabic to come here, I knew nothing when I first arrived, but it does help to know the language, especially if you are looking to rent an apartment. If not, you should at least find a friend who can help you find one to rent, because not knowing any Arabic while looking for an apartment is difficult, frustrating and makes you susceptible to being ripped off. It's also not that easy to find an apartment, in my opinion. Not for lack of options, but because of the QUALITY of options. If you're rich then who cares, but if you have a limited budget, as I did and still do have, then it's harder. Because there are plenty of options but many not-very-nice options. Unfurnished cement hole in the walls, I viewed quite a few myself before finding one I fixed up and furnished myself. Also, many landlords want a year signed contract, which I guess if you plan to stay for a year then that's good. You need a rental contract to extend your visa, actually, which is something I failed to mention in this video.

Hi this was a great video thank you for giving all the information. I had just a couple of questions though, when you arrived in Egypt did they ask you for your proof of exit flight or would you okay to just book the one way? Also I had a question about the visa extension, me and my partner will be going to Egypt very soon and we wanted to stay for example between three to six months. I am a British citizen with a British passport, and I have been to Egypt before and didn't have a problem with making extensions etc. Although my partner is travelling on a Colombian passport do you think this will be a problem for her to be able to get extensions ? thanks so much
@Gventures
@Gventures Жыл бұрын
No worries, thanks for watching! When I first arrived in Egypt they didn't ask me for any exit information, and I arrived with a one way ticket (unlike many places in Asia where they want to see your onward ticket). I got my visa on arrival and that was it, easy entry. I can't say for sure for the Colombian passport, although I don't think she will have a problem....? I do have a friend I made while here from Venezuela, and he extended his visa and received I think it was only like 2 or 3 months extension, even though he requested a year. But by the time he applied to extend he had already well over-stayed his visa, so who knows about that. But I think (at worst) your girl will just have to reapply for a visa extension again, if she isn't granted the same amount of time as you. If you walk up to the window together (they may ask you to step away, but it's not a bad idea to try) and they know you are together, she may be granted the same amount of time. I would try that. But really, in Egypt it isn't very hard to extend your visa (as I am sure you know, from experience). I doubt she would ever be denied, she may just be granted less time and have to reapply (and pay again) but that is the worst outcome I foresee happening.

If it isn't done there, I'm sure staff there could at least give you the correct address in Hurghada for where to extend your visa. I know you can definitely extend it in Hurghada. Thanks for this video, really helpful! I wanted to stay in egypt for 3 months so I was wondering if I get a tourist visa for 1 month upon arrival, can I apply for an extension the next day? or do they expect you to request to extend towards the end of the month? Second month Luxor and Cairo and third month Dabab.

@Gventures
@Gventures Жыл бұрын
That is a good question, I have never heard of anyone trying to extend the very next day or immediately after the received their first visa (on arrival or e-visa). However, I don't see why they would refuse extending it. Although it may be unusual, I'm sure they'll be happy to take your money and extend your visa, and your reason for extending so soon makes sense, because you will be in the south and working your way up and it's just easier that way. I don't think you would have a problem going to extend it right away. Can I ask, what is your nationality? Sometimes this can affect how much extra time they will grant you. And another tip, make sure to request a longer time than you would like, so if you want 3 months then ask for 6 months extension. It is always better to request more time than you would like because they usually grant you less time than you request. And I do not believe the cost is that much more from the 3 month extension to the 6 month extension. Also, you may really love Dahab and end up staying longer! EVERYONE does (except me, I love Cairo way more).
@Lisa-yl8oi
@Lisa-yl8oi Жыл бұрын

When I made this video I had completely forgotten about the rental contract part as I had been living here for quite some time when I made the video, and they only ever ask you once for proof of accommodation. When I first renewed I was living at a hostel for several months, I simply asked the staff to give me a receipt with the length I had been staying there and an extra month ahead of time and they complied. That was enough evidence (at that time) to finish the paperwork and extend my visa.

I've been there a total of 4 times, and 3 out of those 4 times they did not ask for any vax documents, one time they did. However the day they asked me for it I was just returning to pick up my passport and had a receipt so they waved me in. Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about it, almost nowhere in Egypt do they check anything or make you wear masks even, only there do they make you wear a mask. I actually have to go back there soon and I am not worrying about bringing any kind of vax paperwork, though I will just in case (but highly likely won't be asked). @MattYah Oh you're in Egypt now? Well I don't think it should be an issue. Just uploading videos I made in Turkey every few days-I have a lot of editing to do still and lots of footage so it looks like I'm still in Turkey even though I'm not 😅) I have been in Egypt since October of 2021. I went in May to renew for the second time, the first time applying for extension was in November. In May they asked me for vax documents but only upon returning to pick up my visa and passport, when I went to apply in May nobody was asking for anything, just when I returned a few days later for pickup. Honestly, if anyone were to give you issues getting in regarding vax documents, I would just say you're returning to pick up your visa and passport and if they ask for your receipt say you lost it or something. It shouldn't be a big deal though. And yes it is hot! Big difference form Turkey, that's for sure 😆 But when I left Cairo for Turkey it was actually like 43 here, so it was really hot for awhile and then the temperature dropped, thank god. While it is still hot, it's better than it was when I left (for now). Let's hope it doesn't get back up to the 40's for awhile....

I was given a 2 month visa extension in addition to the original tourist 30 day visa. I also got a residency card. I might want to stay longer without leaving Egypt. Is the process the same to get another tourist visa extension?

15 days is nothing, I don't know. I wouldn't even bother extending for just 15 extra days, it might cost you more to extend vs. just paying a fine/fee on the way out of Egypt at the airport

You leave your passport with them? You said you pick up your passport with the extension. And, where do you get photocopies?
@Gventures
@Gventures 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you leave your passport with them the 1st day and return to pick it up the next time. I asked the hostel I was staying in to print me photocopies, but there are also photocopy places in Cairo if your hostel or hotel won't do that for you (they should, it's simple, they are doing it all the time for their work).

@@hybridinfodesk409 I'm not exactly sure why they need the photocopies, I am assuming for paperwork, processing and records. I stayed at Holy Sheet Hostel in downtown and the receptionist printed photocopies of what I needed there. There are also various places to print things if you need them, for example Xerox (techno print shop), located in Dokki. But I'm sure there are also places in downtown Cairo

Hi Ray, thanks for watching my video! Unfortunately I do not know if the Philippines are included on the list of countries that are able to receive a visa on arrival. But my bf works in tourism and he knows nothing about it either. I don't think that's true, it doesn't make sense why Egypt would do that, they want tourists to come, and the easier it is for tourists to come, the better. There have recently been sites online claiming Americans couldn't get the VOA anymore, but it's bullshit. Anyway, if you feel more comfortable applying for e-visa, it's a pretty simple process.

You can go a day or even a few days earlier if you want. You can also go a few days after and probably not have an issue; I know many people who went late. Although, me being me, I prefer to go a day or two before my visa expires.

Yes they ask for that, but it's not as strict as you might think. When I went I showed a receipt and a paper signed by the hostel I was staying in for 2 months, with proof that I had paid and was staying for another month there. I think it will depend on the immigration officer, to be honest. But if you stay at an airbnb for a while or can get someone to write something for you proving you're going to be sticking around for a while, it might work.

@Gventures
@Gventures 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Eva! Yes the Visa on Arrival is definitely still available, I just took a quick trip to Turkey and then returned to Egypt in July and got another Visa on Arrival. The cost is $25 USD and you just need to make sure you have US dollars, Euros or British Pounds to pay that fee, as those are the only currencies they accept for the visa (don't accept card payments). The Visa on Arrival will grant you 30 days inside the country before you must leave. However, the Visa on Arrival is limited to 74 countries, and I am not sure where you are from, but you can check those countries on this link here: www.egyptonlinevisa.com/visa-on-arrival/ Best of luck!

Please be nice and humble with the locals!? If you watch any of my videos you'll know I am🧐🤔. Unfortunately I can't teach English for free as I am not very rich and need to earn a living myself or I won't be able to stay in Egypt. I'm also very busy with recording and editing videos for my channel, teaching English online, spending time with my Egyptian boyfriend, trying to learn Arabic and just overall life. If I had a lot of money and didn't need to worry about how to pay rent and eat in the future I would love to volunteer my time, but if I don't charge people to teach them English I would have a problem quite quickly.

Hello, great video. Just a quick question.. How long before your month visa expires should you go to the office to extend it? Edit: make that two quick questions.. Do you have to have a contract for a flat, or prove where you're living?
@Gventures
@Gventures 2 жыл бұрын
To renew your visa I would go maybe 3-4 days before it expires. But I know people have also gone a few days AFTER it expired and had no problem, although I recommend going a few days before, just to be safe. And they do ask you to provide an address when filling out the form, but I just provided the hostel I was staying at. They don't really check where you are staying or ask many questions about that, so just put down any hotel and that will be enough.

I did it!
