Thanjavur to Tiruchirappalli is 60 km distance. In this video, We started our day by visiting the old & famous Hotel Coffee Palace and the 2000 years old Kallanai Dam.

Description of the places visited by us on the “Thanjavur to Trichy” tour.
Breakfast at Hotel Coffee Palace - We started our day in the morning at the very old and famous eatery Hotel Coffee Palace it was on the main road - Mela V.D Street. We had Idiyappam with coconut milk & filter coffee in the breakfast.
Also, we had the Rava Pongal with Sambar.
Idiyappam cost - Rs 40
Then we also met there with the Restaurant owner Mr. Nand Kishore Mehta ji and their son Badri.
Then we had a sweet called “Therattipal” that tasted so nice.
Kallanai Dam - After this, we travelled around 40 km to visit the Oldest Dam - “Kallanai Dam” known as Grand Anicut - This dam is over 2000 years old. It is the world’s ancient first dam which was built with (running water) across the Kaveri River in Trichy.
The Dam was originally constructed by the Chola king “Karikala” in 150 CE.
Karikala Cholan Manimandapam - after this, we visited the King Karikala Cholan Gallery where we got to know more about in details of the history of the Kingdom of Karikala Cholan.

Lunch at Trichy - After this, we had our lunch at Chellammal Manpaanai Samayal, the restaurant at Trichy. We had a traditional South Indian meal there.
This Restaurant is open till 4:00 pm, we reached late so we tasted 8 - 10 varieties of food but they served a total of 35 unique varieties of food there.
Tea at Alif Tea Stall - Then we had tea at a very famous tea shop in Trichy at Alif Tea Stall & met one of our subscribers, Mr Bala Ji - a Resident of Trichy.
After this, we ended our day

I lived in trichy for 2 years but I spent most of my time in hospital only being a doctor . So seen very little places in trichy. Also second year of my stay was covid and lockdown. But really missing trichy. No one told me of chellamal samayal 😅. Will definitely try to visit if I visit trichy again.

I've experienced that South Indian people are more grounded, humble, genuine and educated than rest parts of India. Being a person from East India I've been staying in Bengaluru since 2010 and never faced any inconveniences till date.

That's why these languages r still in existence. Hindi is official language for sure but freedom of speech must be respected in terms of language also. Not to impose hindi compulsory.

Harish Sir, you never hesitate to try new food items, that's the sign of a true traveler. I am amazed at how many varieties of food items are served in the states of India. The food of Tamil Nadu also is amazing. Medu Wada, Idli, Dosa, and Rasam are my all-time favorite items. Everyone likes to interact with vloggers, and people are always amazed to watch them talking to the camera. India is proud of the Chola kings for their immense gifts to the country in the form of rock-cut temples and other monuments. The restaurant serves traditional Tamil food on earthen pots, that's awesome.

​@@sudhamuralidharan6574 There are 2 Chola Kingdoms, Early Cholas and Medieval/Imperial Cholas. The one who built the Dam were the Early Cholas who have their reference in Sangam Literature and Ashokan Rock edicts, and the later cholas are the ones we are more familiar with.

Paanagam is a refreshing drink which is served during summer. a very light buttermilk (neer-more) and Paanagam is served during Ram-navami festival. As the owner of the hotel said, these drinks are instant energisers. Man Panai means earthen vessels which are used for cooking.

Pongal is not available for breakfast in major part of Karnataka except Bangalore region, that too in some restaurant.Its a common item only in Tamil Nadu Even in Kerala it is not widely available. Therefore Pongal available in South India is not true.

Tamil breakfasts are the best to eat among five of the South Indian states. A lunch cooked in clay pots are like temple foods Odisha with touch of South. The 2000 years old Anicut(Dam) on Cauvery river is magnificent & true to be the oldest in our country 👍

Kerala restaurants use coconut oil for cooking. I stay at Bengaluru where breakfast are too costly & less tasty than Tamil Nadu. Also there are many Tamil restaurants in Bengaluru.

What you are referring *Rava Pongal* actually served in Hotels especially in Tamil Nadu is called *Ven Pongal* (served with Chutney and Sambhar) as a morning breakfast.
