to use the max-chip was just a fail - this new build uses bare 16-bit shift registers for each arm, which reduces the wiring, and i can control the multiplexing as i want. Nice to hear that you want to build it aswell! If you have any questions - you can contact me

What if instead of using layered LEDs you had a solid white spiral. then you could use a projector to to light it up while its spinning. then your vertical resolution would only be limited to the projectors framerate, and the horizontal resolution would be the same as the projector.

If its not too much trouble, could you upload a build log of this project as well? the last one was interesting to read.

I have actually shot a lot of pictures during the bulid, because i always wanted to make it others possible to build one aswell. I just need to write up some text to describe all what I have done, and i fear that this will take me some time. Maybe I will publish the eintire project as opensource - idk so far. Anyway - I will release a build log quite soon when i have enough time.

What about display instead of led light like a 45 degree angle display strip or a smart phone rectangular display

Awesome project, Max! Beautifully crafted and engineered! Congratulations! You said in a comment that you were thinking on publishing it as an opensource project. Are you still considering that possibility? I just started to experiment with Atmega microcontrollers and this project of yours would be a tremendous study tool for me, in gathering knowledge, tips and tricks while studying all the details in it! Again, nice work!

I've done something similar, although a bit less advanced - you can find two videos about it on my channel, together with reports in german and english, source code and CAD files. Of course I'd also be happy to answer any question you might have :)

Make vacum under the dome! No noise, less friction... profit! ;)
@jonjonsson63236 жыл бұрын
Actually it is a problem with bearings in vacuum causing local overheat. Engine coils get warm so a vacuum chamber would likely kill the motor in minutes.
