What they don't understand is the gas engines keeps me from having to listen to my wife when she's talking.

I prefer the smell and sound of the old 2 stroke

I would love an electric outboard on my boat. Unfortunately 2 to 3 hour run time would not cut it in Australia. All day is a minimum with lots of families doing extended trips is normal.

All day trips are about to become fond memories. That is one of the primary objectives of the lying Church of the Climate Crisis --- ending freedom of movement.

Get a larger battery!

capible of 60 knots BUT to get the maximum 3 1/2 hour run time can only cruise at 17 knots. No thanks will stay with 4 stroke Merc

Lot if work to do before I'd be willing to re power my 186 triton. It has to get equal or greater speed than my merc 150. I get 64mph and my range is only limited by my gas tank which is 25 gallons. Cost is 13000 to recover new gas. Keep on working on it. That battery bank is way to big. Once u get all the bugs out I'll try it

I would put that thing on my 20 year old Bayliner! After I yank the 3.0 and alpha drive off. lol Love it!!!!!
Don’t know for real but i guarantee short range and high cost

What's the weight of the battery and limitations on installing? Battery is going to be a HUGE (no pun intended) consideration.

Why did they avoid all the important questions, range, recharge time, weight of the batteries?

Cause it's bad.

That battery alone says 400KG on it and it's literally almost impossible to fit anywhere. Look how huge that is

How many 100 amp do we need to run for the whole day of 10 hours
@222INFINITY2 жыл бұрын
With the simplicity of electric I'd expect a 20 year warranty, not 2. This motor should sell for $15K, not $27,000. With 60KWH battery, controls, and charger you are looking at $70,000.

is inboard electric engines better ¿?

Electricity will be in short supply soon. When the blackouts start, it will be much higher in price. I think electric motor its a great concept and practical for many applications...as long as we are generating enough electricity for our civilization from carbon fuels.
@theodoredesmarais42192 жыл бұрын
Its a start, the essential issue of runtime, will be solved with hydrogen, either fuel cell or Internal combustion, batteries just don't cut it, same true for Class 8 trucks, etc. The cars have much more massive batteries, which in a boat are very heavy, as well as the charge / expense issues.

Yeah I tried telling some people that, their reply was I don't know how buoyancy works.
@msk39052 жыл бұрын
This makes no sense to me, its the equivalent if a 180HP outboard but has a 70 nm or 3.5 hr run time at @ 17knots with a max of 60 knot capability. Wouldn’t most people want to use full throttle in this application? 180HP outboard is a bit much for trolling around, no?
@justintime5192 жыл бұрын
883lbs for a 180hp motor? Maybe a fit for a pontoon.

Don’t forget to add the weight of battery pak

Until battery will be lighter and more efficient (more electricity by cells) electric outboard won't be that popular, until a company produce a solid electrolytic cell battery. Vmar is from Québec, Hydro-Québec is from Québec, so let's dreaming

I don't see this meeting or exceeding current technology . Thought that was the rule of thumb. Meeting or exceeding...

I’ll be impressed when they build this engine and all the batteries are under the engine cover then I’ll have me 100% notice he didn’t ask him how much the batteries weigh
@Lefishn Жыл бұрын
Wh3n he pointed to the batteries I looked and says 400kg. WTF!!!!
@jonroberts65183 ай бұрын
Yeah a little over 800 pounds , some people didn't believe me . They were thinking probably just a little bit bigger than and heavier than a conventional car battery.

I've been in a combustible engine powered boat faster then 32mph at top speed. Then he said run time is 3 1/2 hr , no thanks I'll stick with my gas burning boat , a 65hp evinder gas burner top speed is about 28/30 mph depending on water conditions..
@5316719672 жыл бұрын
Come on everyone let’s go for a boat ride.... oh wait we can only run for 15-20 minutes then the batteries will be dead. I’ll stick to my tried and true two stroke that will run circles around this junk. And when I run out of gas, I’ll pump some more in the tank and keep running. Electric outboards, that’s a big nope for me.
@brianm.armstrong702 жыл бұрын
Run circles around it? Lol... I highly doubt it! The advantages and lowering of the carbon footprint, is enough 👌. These run ALL DAY and charges are done dock side using standard marine to shore cables! Sign me up! 50 mph top speed? Lol... I'm there!

@msk39052 жыл бұрын
2 to 3 hour run time at like 1/3 throttle, full throttle its much less
