as people immersed in music i’d expect them to only acknowledge Mariah as the legend she is. She can’t duplicate what she did early on. muscles tire over time. voices deteriorate. Mariah releases stuff like her We Belong Together Valentine mix recently and it goes unnoticed. quite sad

She never had a mental breakdown. She was just exhausted from being overworked by the record company she was signed to. It was more of a physical crash due to lack of sleep. Had they allowed to sleep for a few hours, she would’ve been fine. I understand it so well because it’s happened to me where i havn’t slep for day literally.

@@Hdhshshs-el2h No the media didn’t make her have the breakdown it was the record company that wasn’t allowing her to get a decent nights sleep. It was more of a breakthrough of realising she. Needed to take better care of herself and set boundaries with the people she was working with.

There’s literally autotune on this performance.💀 She uses autotune on pretty much everything, sorry to break it to you, but she’s one of them autotune girls now. She doesn’t need it like the other girls like ariana and rihanna. It’s a shame, but she’s a perfectionist and since most people can’t tell she does it. It aint wrong imo but I don’t like it personally

35 y.o. In 2005 😉. After the Glitter Fiasco, she was let go from her brand but $100+ million contract with Virgin Records. She countersues & is awarded around $26mil in compensation. She is then signed by Island/Def Jam Records , L.A. Reid was CEO at the time. Goes on to release Charmbracelet , also a 2 Disc Remixes Album as well before releasing Emancipation of Mimi. She worked closely with Jermaine Dupree on this album.

I don’t think she was using an earpiece here. The first time she used was for The Adventure of Mimi tour in 2006. This performance is from 2005. I don’t know why she covers her ear. Probably a combination of that she can hear or feel her sound better and it becoming a habit.

When you press your ear and sing you can actually hear yourself better. Mariah’s notes may sound powerful but they really aren’t sometimes so she pushes her ear before doing s very specific note, whether it’s loud or soft.
