I remember when 3G was introduced in the states, ATT had just created an unlimited talk & Text plan because no one wanted to pay for minutes, then ATT had an unlimited everything plan which included Data (everyone was giving away unlimited data to get people to buy new touch screen phones) little did they know the streaming era would follow and they couldn't give everyone unlimited data. Needless to say I was still on a OG Unlimited Data plan until 5G was announced and they offered to give me a free 5G capable phone and they paid a year on my unlimited plan. Good love grandfather rules

Well now they all have true unlimited data plans because the networks are of much higher capacity. They realized consumers weren’t buying the fake “unlimited” at slower speeds imo

Do you know if both data and phone calls travel through the same wireless technology system (2G 3G 4G)? Or do these just handle data while voice travels through a different system? Thanks
@IrfanAli-jl7vb Жыл бұрын
On the radio (wireless) part between mobile and base-station, voice and data are transmitted using same wireless (modulation) schemes. For voice, since the traffic is quasi periodic, time-slot reservations are made typically. Data is bursty and served typically in best-effort manner. This is the same for 2.5 G-5G (2g is only voice). In 2.5G and 3G, voice and data are split into different core networks from the radio. So from mobile your voice and data are carried to the same radio, but then the radio sends data to one core network (Packet Switched domain (SGSN,GGSN and then internet) ) and voice to another network (Circuit Switched domain MSC/VLR, and then PSTN network). In 4G and 5G both voice and data are sent to the same network, (PS domain). Voice is processed as Voice over IP (so voice packets in a data IP network). Hope this answers your question.

You presented the very interesting information about the first telegraph systems which appeared somewhere in the 17th century. Probably you meant some sign coding by means of signal flags ( made of fabrics) for instance on ships or fortresses. But electrical telegraph... It is something that can't exist in the 17th century)

Actually 3g was the first network because before that it was just cellphone which Sprint started throwing around tech lingo with the video mms/youtube player thus everyone else made things up. T-mobile had the first smartphone network and currently cellular is the same as cable broadband with a cable using volp. 5g is basically tech lingo and 0g is the sattilte network that will be the end of ground based cellular

the first is the minimum speed and the second is considered as the maximum nominal one but in reality 3.5 is faster than 3G.

I remember my first cell phone it had a pull up antenna the Battery would get extremely hot so hot in fact you would have to switch hands while using the phone. The battery lasted anywhere from 15-30 Minutes and there was no Games no special ring tones and No touch screen of any kind and there was no internet and no unlimited minutes there was not even text also if you used it for a couple days off and on you would deplete all your Available minutes for the entire month. It was surely the worst cellphone I have ever owned but while other people was using Payphones and pocket pagers or waiting until they got home to use the phone I was all ready pluged in to society and ready to make a call. No more dropping a Dime into a payphone wait it was a Quarter and maybe even 50 cents toward the end I don't remember its been so long.
