Gladys Aylward visited our school in Hull East Yorkshire England in around 1966 (I was around 11 years old at time). I was mesmerised by this very slight lady when she told us all about the horrors of binding of Chinese childrens feet. I feel so honoured to have been in her audience.

I was deeply touched by the story of Gladys and the children being stuck on the banks of the river. A girl said, "This is just like Moses crossing the Red Sea". Gladys snapped, "I'am not Moses and this is not the Red Sea!" The girl turned and said, "No, but God's the same." This brought me to tears. It's so true. Thank you Father that you never change!

I had been brought up with stories of Gladys Aylward from my mother as she also was a missionary called by God to Africa. I just wept overwhelmed with the woman's life and how God used her. My mother also faced incredible obstacles and things in her life journey with the Lord. Now I suspect both she and Gladys will meet in heaven now.

I was at Senior School when I met this beautiful woman called Gladys Aylward. I was in 'Aylward House' so we were chosen to meet her. Tiny lady dressed in Mandarin Clothes. Her smile was captivating... Amazing Lady!!

I thought about how little she had and couldn’t help but think about all that I have even though I have downsized quite a bit! I didn’t sell anything; I donated to nonprofits and neighbors....people who really needed those things. I’m surprised of how much stuff I can do without! I met Gladys Aylward's 'grandson' in a the park in Malak Darwin NT Australia - we were walking our respective dogs and the Spirit of God came to me to ask this 35yr? Man if he knew anything of Israel/ God and he said - his grandmother ? He wasn't Chinese? Gladys was his relative- But do you know Jesus/ God - ? well my grandmother was a famous missionary - and I had not heard of her even though the local Christian School Marrara had her name as one of the sports teams- I am a relief teacher - so he assured me if I Googled it I would find out about her. I consumed information of her life and 2 Values books I read to the students were parts of her life and speak powerfully of her faith and life. With Yehovah you can do all things - if you are willing. A few weeks later I met his brother who was house sitting for his brother and he confirmed it- I recognised the same dog - he affirmed it- they were from UK. I met the first man in the supermarket with his wife and baby son some time later and gave him a new copy of the book with the prison incident in it- they left the area not long after. I do pray that he and his family come into the saving grace of the Father through Jesus. I continue to speak hope into the hearts of the children when I do my relief teaching. Gladys was amazing !

Wonderful! Thank You Jesus for people like Gladys who simply desire to please You, Lord. As a child, I remember watching and enjoying the movie about her life. Then several years later, I was told the Gospel on tv and became a Christian 1976. It wasn't until many years later after Bible school and being a missionary that I again saw her movie and realized she was a missionary too and that God used her story to plant a seed in my heart.

I wish I knew about her when I was a missionary in Asia. Her tremendous sacrifice of self for others is beyond inspirational - something one can only do if you really have the love of God. I love how God taught her that His ways are not ours (thinking of her becoming the foot inspector and how that opened up doors into the community) and it’s a great reminder to myself. It’s amazing what God can do through one person who is willing! I wonder what happened to all her ‘children’?

Everyone needs to know about this remarkable woman, who gave up everything for nothing in return. When we can have more women like her the world would be a better one. What a woman of faith and purpose driven person. Wow am amazed by her courage 6 years back God called me out of the secular world to follow Him by picking up my cross no matter what. That movie kept on coming over and over my playlist now I understand better the reason why....2020 been a tough year in a foreign country it nearly took away my life but my love for God and His missions over my live have grown up what could not break me have made me like the Lord had told me...without His helping hand I won't be here and I would not have made it am so grateful to Him alone and to those He had sent to help. He is faithful enough to be the same God ...who parted the Red sea for Moses and the Israelites to cross over...like for Gladys and I God will do it for you who is reading my small message. Trust in Him with all your heart no matter what comes your way...remember it will either make you or break you but if you hold tightly to Him ...it will MAKE YOU a spiritual hero for you to leave His legacy in this world... Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, Ms. Puves. This production is quite precious to me personally because Miss Aylward is responsible for my name. I know she didn't care for the liberties taken with her story in "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness," however her spirit in that story compelled both of my parents (before they'd ever met each other) to choose their future daughter's name from that story's character (albeit: loosely) based on her story. As it happens, Jni (or Gni, as in Mr. Burgess' book) is actually a word which describes a selfless love. It is the fourth pillar of buddist philosophy and is the closest description of human love I've found to truly aspire to agape. It is priceless to me to hear this story told from a perspective that tries to be true to Ms. Aylward's own, and to hear some of it in her own voice! So, thank you, thank you, thank you for your time consuming effort.
