This documentary examines the oldest Old Order Amish community, located in the area around Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This group has defined how we think about the Amish, with there gray buggies, dark colored dresses and trim farmsteads. This is one of the few communities allowing mules in addition to horses for draft power.

One day, on my way home from work, I saw an Amish buggy broke down by the side of the road. The wheel had broken off at the axel. I stopped and spoke with an Amish lady, who was alone. She told me her farm was down the road and asked if I would go there and get her husband to help. I told her I would, drove down the road to the farm, knocked on the door of the house and a man appeared at the door. He was the local Amish leader (Bishop?). I told him what happened, he and I went to his barn, got a spare buggy wheel and put in the back of my truck. We went back to where his wife was. We had a nice conversation. We worked together, replacing that broken buggy wheel. When we were done, he thanked me and shook my hand.

Giving is truly better than receiving. When someone asks if I need help with something, I always tell them yes (even if I don't). I would never want to deprive someone of the joy of giving.

With me it was the other way around. In 2009 i was driving at 12:30am from a friend's house in a snowstorm and I lost control of my car and drove into a snowbank and it happened right in front of an Amish person's farm. I guess he heard me trying to get out and came out to me but my car was stuck really badly so he invited me into their house, he woke up his wife and told her to make me something to eat and get an extra bed ready because I will be spending the night. I was just blown away by their hospitality and how nice they were towards me, i was a complete stranger to them and yet they treated me like family. In the morning he told his kids to go to the neighbors and tell them to bring their horses, all together it took 10 horses to pull my car out of the snowbank. As i was about to leave, his wife brought me 4 sandwiches for the road a huge brick of home made cheese and 12 fresh eggs from their chickens to take home. I wanted to give them $50 dollars for their troubles but he said it would be a sin for them to accept money for helping someone in need, he just told me that i can repay it by helping someone else in need and ever since that day i always pull over if i see someone stranded on the side of the road and help them with whatever i can. Amish are amazing people.

Over the years I have visited around the Amish communities in Ohio 3 times and loved it each time . Me and my now ex-wife spent several days there in one community on our honeymoon . And they are such great people to be around and spend time with . I grew up on a farm in Eastern Kentucky, working horses and mules and loved it, so in that way I can relate to the Amish people . And I am 58 yrs old and still live on the farm that I grew up on . And I love living out in the country and enjoying the simple things in life . 🤗👍💫

Did you notice how a community of volunteer Amish men puts a typical professional construction crew of American (Englisher) workers to shame when it comes to building a barn? The Amish men are getting that barn up in record time ... no playing. They intend to get finished by dinner time, and failure is NOT an option. WOW!! 💖

The amish men do that here as well however the way their buildings are built do not meet up to code like not putting weather barrier paper under a metal roof. Over here that's mandatory yet the building code inspector thinks they are the next thing to god and let it pass. They were all living in their houses that were half built which is also not suppose to be. Their septics were put in on the weekends when there were no more inspectors coming out due to the winter hours closing until spring. Yes they can put up a house real fast when there are a couple of congregations pitching in.

Our Amish neighbors are a construction crew and built our house. They have to abide by the same codes as everyone else. A code inspector had to come out after every "step" of the building process of our home before they could continue on. They did a great job and it was completed very quickly.

It's actually sad because I seen in one video an Amish person was saying that more and more Amish teens are leaving the Amish lifestyle to go live a regular city life. Which i think is sad, me myself personally i was thinking of joining the Amish church because the Amish said that anyone can join their church but you will have to live by their rules from than on. I am just worried if i could actually do it, to get rid of my smartphone and my car, no technology at all it would be hard but i think after a couple of years i would get used to it.

They are thriving while the rest of the world is falling under the totalitarian spell completely and languishing. I have wanted to live close to these communities for three years now. I know I will soon. In part 1 of this series it was stated that fewer people are leaving than they used to in the past. I believe that’s true. The rest of us are seeing the immense benefits in their determination to stand firm in their values and not vice versa. The deranged system we live under is the one that is imploding slowly but surely.

I went on an Amish tour in Lancaster over 10yrs ago. It was so interesting. In the 70s I saw it as- all rural. I was a teen on vacation and saw it as the 70s. Now in 2000s I went back and saw a highway of 20 chain stores/eateries and such an overtake of development. Route 30! Wow so commercialized! Sad we took over their land with such a shopping frenzy. I have mad respect for these hard working people. The tour I saw showed us a laundry room. They buy soap and no longer hand sew the white shirts men wear, they buy some certain items from Walmart now, the tour guide said. There is only 1 company in USA that make their battery powered washing machines (though this video says -air powered) other companies have shut down but 1 still provides them. I also saw a kitchen and bedroom with the clothes on hangers, so interesting! I saw the Amish newspaper announcing their shutdown.. over 10yrs ago this was! How they old school communicated... "Earl is sick, crops are moist by God's rain" Things like that. I was saddened they lost contact thru each other. The newspaper for Ohio and Pennsylvania was shutting down. SAD! Love the Amish! Thank and you for this video!

@@kiq654 Don't speak about what you don't know assuming you do, then you are the one who look absolutely stupid and for good reasons, because you are. The Amish have fridge, washing machines, light etc... as they all exist using gaz... they also having machines to build amazing furnitures using compressed air if I am not mistaking, and their furnitures last for generation, made of massive wood. To use electricity, computers etc may make your life easier at some level, but doesn't make you smarter and more creative and more capable. You are the perfect example of that. To have less often ask from you more capabilities to bring forth. They are at the leading edge on many fronts, including machine innovations, do not use welfare, social security, nursing homes etc, are less sick and subject to cancer etc than the general population, went through covid without following any guidelines, kept on working, gathering, no mask, no vaccine etc... and were declared very early on herd immunity without more death than the population in lock down, and their children had their usual life, nothing different, no suicide, no crimes, no psychological issue or fear driven behavior, and they made money while the general population didn't... and since they don't use electricity nor fertilizers nor car, they are not affected by what's happening now. So when you say "stupid" now, look in the mirror because you have so much to learn from those who live a different life than yours. You don't have to live like them, but you can for sure learn from them, a lot.

This is a great video of the Amish way of life . I know that they have their problems in their lives, just like other commitments of people have . But it seems that they deal with it better than we do, by keeping with their simpler way of life and they are hard workers and work together helping each other out . I have saw in the comments about people trying to say that they are a cult and that they shun people . Well they have to have some kind of law and order and leaders within the community and group of people to keep their lives organized . I find them to be great people well organized, honest and generous and very hard workers and they don't try to mess with our lives and cause us problems . They do a lot of stuff to help in our world, by the work that they do, the crops that they grow and the products that they produce and the wood and furniture things that they make, top quality stuff . So thanks for the video . 🤗👍💫

How would they sustain even themselves without proper education let alone society? We learn into word in normal society, not grown to run in wild packs of barely behaving children like in amish households who can have 10 under 5 year old kid (if somebody is sick or goes to prison for example, or dies which rarer). They are growing into regular society little by little and soon hopefully will be teaching to themselves proper maths and scienses, history etc. And not just local folklore that is mostly about received persecutions, which happend despite being protected minority in many places including ohio over well over century. Basically they are not hope or light, they are growing consern inside otherwise progressive society. Many cases where officers and sheriffs desided not to enforce law because of them being amish and thus above the law, that should stop immediately. Same goes towards illegal activities like incest which is growing concern coded by words genetic deseases in amish community. Soon they will have literal horns on their head. When normal person sees relative these people feel like they should get married and dont know anybody else. Netflix is chill is ice cream flavour to these people.

This is an incredible series that brings glory to God. It's beautiful to see the Spirit of the Lord move and provoke people to seek the Lord through scripture, and be led out of false religions. Seeing people come out of false religions and into a personal relationship with God, through the sacrifice of Jesus, gives me hope in this wicked world we are living in.

Wow, I have so much respect for their way of life and sense of community. They seem to be very disciplined, honest, hard-working, law-abiding, self-sufficient, peaceful, God fearing, close-knit that we should model after. I'm glad they allow some modern equipment, vocations/trades into their lives to make life easier, more comfortable, more efficient or productive vs interpreting it as a sin. By not allowing electricity or the use of cell phones, tv (etc) sometimes is actually a blessing in disguise in case of grids down or major power outage. Their children stay pure and wholesome vs being infected with drugs, alcohol, violent movies, negative peer pressure in public schools (etc). They do not seem greedy nor arrogant but very forgiving and minding their own business. I love the white bonnets on those ladies. It seems old-fashioned and conservative the life style they lead but over all, it seems like one that works in the long haul in many ways for them (voluntarily speaking).

A committed Christian who repents from his past sinful life, recognizes Jesus sacrifice for his atonement and in turn humbly and gratefully yields his life fully to Jesus resulting in a new birth is likely not wanting to build on works. Instead he seeks to have Jesus be the Lord and Master of his life. It would seem to follow that a born again Christian seeks to follow all Jesus commandments with grace and humility.

@hogansheroes2793

@@jameshershberger9525 Lordship salvation is absolutely not the gospel message. Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation. Jonah 3: 10 calls turning from sins, "works". You are adding works to the gospel message. Repentance of sins is a lifetime of works and has never saved anyone or contributed in any way to salvation. If repentance of sins helps save you in any way then it had better be perfect repentance. God's standard is absolute perfection, not your best efforts. Trying doesn't count. Not even one sin is allowed to be in Heaven. The book of James says that if you follow the whole law and offend in one point you are guilty of all. Oops, so much for helping out with your salvation by attempting to repent of your sins. God grants repentance unto the acknowledgement of the truth. When you have believed on Christ alone for salvation then you have repented unto life! Making Jesus Lord and Master of your life is a service issue, nothing to do with salvation at all.
