Visit An Incredible Nashville Model Railroad

Many people got their start in trains by unwrapping a Lionel train set underneath the Christmas tree, but that fascination has only grown for Dr. Jack Fisher. Growing up in Chicago, Dr. Fisher caught the train bug at a very young age from his father and it's only grown since. For the last 20 years, he's been constructing his own model railroad empire in his basement and garden railway. Dr. Fisher's interest in railroading isn't limited to just O-scale or G-scale models, as he's also a founding member of the Nashville Steam Preservation Society and understands the importance of restoring NC&StL No. 576 to be a living, breathing history lesson for Nashville and the Middle Tennessee region. The mission of the NASHVILLE STEAM PRESERVATION SOCIETY is to preserve our history by restoring and operating relevant historic railroad equipment for the purposes of education, tourism, and goodwill to and for METRO NASHVILLE.
The restoration of Locomotive 576 to operation will serve as a visceral link to the history of Nashville and honor those who make the region great. The locomotive was designed in Nashville and has been called the Music City home since delivery from the factory in 1942.
The rebuilding of Locomotive 576 to operation is influenced by a variety of important key goals:
• RESTORE the locomotive to operation for the general public enjoyment
• PARTNER with Metro Parks to provide excursion train tickets for sponsored underprivileged children’s programs
• BOLSTER the Entertainment Industry to utilize the locomotive in films, videos, and television production
• PROVIDE a transparent, visitor-and family- friendly environment during the restoration and operation of the locomotive (including when stored at its shop while not in use)
• CREATE and grow public support and awareness
• EDUCATE about the important role No. 576 played for Nashville and the Nation during WWII
• OPERATE special trains in connection with Nashville, Metro Parks, and other local venues as well as creating special events utilizing the locomotive in operation and display
• ENGAGE the community through outreach to encourage volunteers and to provide hands-on technical trade training for welding, machining, and mechanical comprehension

A friend of mine named Tom has been modeling the NC&StL for about 20 years now. most of his models are custom built. he is mainly modeling the tracy city branch and Cowan, TN. he's got quite the talent!

Tom hoped to see the 576 restored and operating again but sadly he passed away about a year ahead of 576 being restored. We hope to honor his memory when 576 takes it's first run.

I like this doctor! I'm a big Milwaukee Road fan and always liked the Dixie Line rolling stock too! You know, I would love to see 576 and the rest of the J3-57 Class made into scale models!

Who got the structures for the OK metal at the children’s center in Nashville I recall they were one store get a hobby store on Gallatin Road I saw the display in the early 1970s it was really neat I hope the structures were reservedPreserved
