I worked with liquid steel for 29 years. One melt 350 tons. The plant produces about 10 million tons of steel per year. Thank you for this nice video. I live in 300 km far away from Chelyabinsk Pipe Factory and have never seen how pipes are made. However, steel production process is shown well, I can confirm, as one of the biggest Russian Steel production plants is located in 20 minutes from my home and I worked there for 9 long years :-) Quite strange, why you tell about big diameter pipes, but showed cold rolling, hot dip galvanizing and coating production, instead of hot rolling mill, which produces plates at width of 5000 mm and length 10-20 meters! That hot rolling mill which was showed is absolutely different to that, which produces raw material for big-size pipe production. By the way, these tubes are used for Nord Stream, which was exploded.

I can tell you most of the workers are wearing their silver protection clothes just for the camera. 15 years ago i was a shunting locomotive driver in a big yard. Once a week we had to bring a torpedo shaped railway waggon filled with molten steel to the factory. We had to position the waggon in their hall. Then a worker came, opened the top, and took a sample with a lance like device. While wearing an armless t-shirt or even underwear. Sparks were hitting his chest..no big deal..Then the steel was tilted in the furnace. That was great to watch. So we used to stay and watch the process even though we were expected at the yard for other work 😂

A powerful mining industry makes high-quality steel, which is sent to Germany, where high-quality steel sheets are produced, which are then exported back to Russia. It is not correct. Steel from Germany has never came to Russia. Chelyabinsk produces big-size pipes from local hot rolled steel, which is produced by MMK and Severstal. However, most of equipment is German (SMS). In the meantime, nowadays, only name is German, but all materials and people for construction are from China.

It still pisses me off that we don't have the plants or plant capacity to do more steel making & processing. I propose that these company's that import steel & other products have a 1000 % tariff to force more $30.00 - $35.00 an hour production American jobs which would not put a dent in these company's bottom line profits. This would also machine tool company's to ramp up production of special machines & also creating new machine tool company's. I also propose that any American based company who buys machine tools from over seas will have to pay a 2,000 tariff. Also, I propose that any American company's who have their head quarters over seas whose products are sold in the USA will be subject to a 3,000 tariff. Any one with even half a brain that the only way to bring $28.00 - $38.00 per hour jobs back to the USA is by introducing super large tariffs on company's who do business in the USA.
