Sam looks like a good run following the river up north. I'm an Aussie living in Lampang just south of Chiang Mai. Last week I ran into a German cyclist who rode up from Bangkok to Lampang following the river to avoid highways and mountains. Took him about 2 weeks. Was here on a short holiday with his German bicycle.

So a thing to buy for those that have given up alcohol is soda drinks in Thailand; I mean made from soda. Osishi and Singha do a range of them. Also if you want a break from alcohol they make a nice change.

The broccoli shops around touristic places are over pricing 300-500 baht per G .. if you go to a local Thai shop a little out of town can find between 50-70 baht

Suggestion! You need to purchase a 4 or 5 peice fishing rod, this kind of outfit will easily snug into your backpack I have fished here and the fishing is amazing if your into sportsfishing. I'm glad you made it. Well done.

Great parts of Thailand I still need too explore, I rented a car in February and drove from Chiang Mai to Surin and back over a few days. I am sure the bike allows to see more, and take your time, but I wanted to learn the roads in a car first. Still not comfortable enough on the bikes here. Safe travels.

Been to a number of those local festivals in isaan. You do notice the missing generation, with the crowds often containing mostly the young and the older generations, missing the middle generation who are off working in the cities, factories etc except for the odd farang visiting with his partner.

Hi Sammie, great camera work and especially drone footage your now experiencing the true Thailand not just Pattaya, Bangkok. Not to nag you to much don’t forget to change the engine oil on the bike more regularly than recommended I do mine every 3000 klm just helps the engine lubricant as your driving long distance every day. Agree, an old bike like that, you are due for something on the bike to fail. Stop at a bike repair shop and have them look the whole bike over. I would be willing to bet there is something ready to break. Trust me. Better pre-emptive than stranded

I know you have a sponsored deal with the weed shop, but the truth is if you want good weed at a good price go to a little independent weed shop outside the tourist zone and you will not look back. You should not be paying more than 10AUD a gram for top shelf and less than 1AUD a gram for ditch weed. Pro tip, once you have found your little non tourist weed shop. Sincerely give a 100THB tip at the lad or lass on the counter when you buy up the first time. When you go in after that, they will silver service you every time.
