A long road trip with a caravan along the Sognefjord to the largest glacier in continental Europe, Justedalsbreen. A hike to two such different Haugabreen and Boyabreen glacier arms. Not everything went according to plan on this trip, or actually, the plan literally fell apart,
In this video, we tried to show you the colors of fjords, ancient glaciers, and mighty mountains on our way! The nature of Norway is so beautiful and fragile at the same time.
We also visited the Glacier Museum, where we got answers to many questions that we are ready to share with you! We also made a stop at a small and cozy book town Fjærland.
We confidently walked towards our first Big Edition and really wanted to make it perfect, but it turned out to be not an easy task, we really hope that you will like the release and leave your wishes and questions in the comments under the video.
This is insanely important and necessary for us!
Sognefjord (#Sognefjord) - the longest fjord in Norway and the second largest in the world, it is 204 kilometers of amazing beauty and tranquility. Majestic mountains and glaciers along the whimsically curving strip of mighty water and picturesque settlements on the slopes of the mountains.
One of its branches is Fjærlandfjord - the waters of this fjord are colored in an incredible turquoise color by the Jostedalsbreen glacier. Village Fjærland is located on its bank - it is also called The Book Town, a large collection of old read books collected on stylized wooden shelves and any of them can be purchased.
In the pocket of the fjord is the Glacier Museum, which contains interesting material on glaciers and climate change.
Near the Jostedalsbreen Glacier, many of which we study a little bit every summer. During this trip, we visited two of them, which are so different in their moods.
Haugabreen is a glacier that hides surrounded by mountains and you have to hike to it. The route takes about 3 hours for a round trip. Haugabreen is a rare glacier that can be reached, touched, heard, and felt. Another plus is that it can be done safely enough since it lies and does not overhang.
Bøyabreen - we consider it one of the easiest to visit, no need to climb the mountain or go on a long hike, the glacier is visible right from the parking lot.
It is still huge, and although it retreats every year, it looms menacingly over the valley.
About Us:
We are traveling across Norway with camper Hymer Eriba Troll 530 Rockabilly. Most of our trips are relatively short and start from Fredrikstad in Norway. For those who are limited in time, you might discover what you could see during a two-day or three-day trip in Southern Norway.
You are welcome to leave your questions in a comment to the video and we will try to answer our best!

Thanks a lot for the information in the video, Dimitri and Olga. It was very usefull for us! ❤ We visit this glacier today. Was a beautiful but challenging hike! At the moment there are strong waterstreams on the path and snow at the end of trail.

Glad it was helpful! We suspected that in early June it still might be a lot of melting snow that keep the soil wet and high level of water in stream. Hope you reached your goals and enjoyed the view... very curious hoe it look this year!

I watched following Andrew Ditton’s recommendation and so glad to find your channel. What a stunning and informative video. I’d love to travel in Norway again. I’ve never forgotten my two visits made in the 1960’s with my parents. We toured in our Dormobile and I still have the films and slides of our visits. Hope to come again before I get too old!

Amazing...breathtaking!!! Thank you for this wonderful and informative video. We watched this video several times. We will be visiting Norway next summer and would like to do this hike. We will be there during first week of July. Do you think its possible to do this hike during that time? Would we be able to find the trail markings?
@CrazyTroll
@CrazyTroll Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the pleasant comment and very glad you found it informative and good to watch more than once. July is one of the best months for traveling, especially for a Norway hike. Yes, all trails are well marked and in most cases, you can see from the current trail mark - the next one. Wish you a pleasant trip and good weather!

it seems to me you guys like the color red... great video! i must ask... how close can you camp to that glacier?
@CrazyTroll
@CrazyTroll 2 жыл бұрын
We really do, and it is really hard not to wear red driving the red CrazyTroll. I believe there are no legal restrictions for camping near or even on the glacier, but low temperature and the risk of falling ice should be taken into account camping with tents.

That was amazing! So enjoyable. And I can see how much effort you put into capturing all those shots. Absolutely stunning production. But... the ads every 4-5 minutes really spoiled the 'flow.' Just as you get into the story, it stops for an ad break. I know we all have to make a bit of adsense, but for me there were too many ad breaks. Just one or two would be enough and then I might not skip them.
@CrazyTroll
@CrazyTroll 2 жыл бұрын
This was a big trip and a huge amount of work and happy you paid attention. Maybe one day YT will recognize it and will offer it to a wider audience as well. ...and maybe what you mentioned about ads is the reason people leave the video too earlier. Actually, I just discovered that I can remove ad blocks myself and I removed nearly all of them playing during the video. Thank you for your good advice! 😁 We are too small to think about revenues and better to let people enjoy the video and increase user's satisfaction. 👍 For us, our videos are more a creative process and hobby and we are waiting for a summer back since it is -10 to -20 C for a long time already and we just shoot small guides about Norway.🇳🇴😀 Thank you once again! 👍👏😀

@@CrazyTroll I share your pain. It seems that YT does not recognise good quality in many cases, and promotes too much poor quality sensationalist rubbish! I guess they are a business and they don't care as much about our videos as they do about their own revenue - I guess that is why they sneaked so many ads into your brilliant production. I'm glad my comment was useful to you as it was meant to be helpful and not critical. It's a tough balance to get enough ads in there to make KZbin promote it, but not too many ads that it turns off the audience. I'm still trying to get that balance right after many years! I hope you guys are enjoying the warm and cosy long evenings and I look forward to checking out more of your videos. Cheers!
@CrazyTroll
@CrazyTroll 2 жыл бұрын
So true! It makes analysis on YT useless since there are many "strange" examples of success, that we stopped and just try to do our best and what we would like to see and/or share. And we are open to good critics as makes us learn... I probably heard it on you. :) I remember how YT turned ON ads on all content, even on channels under 1000 that made us a bit focused on achieving this milestone, and finding so many ads on our own content is somewhat between good appraisal from YT and scam or abuse. Prefer the first one!

Hello! 👋 In fact, I'm not a mechanic and I mentioned what happened in the video, this is what the mechanics in the workshop said. Breaks on one side were worn and partially blocked due to poor adjustment. The adjustment screw was dented. 🤔 BUT when we bought the caravan we studied possible problems and the brakes that stuck on the track were one of them. Google immediately showed us pictures of burnt caravans, so we were very afraid of this! To prevent this from happening, we can give two tips 1) If you are traveling together, then each exit from the house, one should be behind the wheel and the other should listen to how the caravan sounds when you leave (it should be quiet) or when you leave gas stations👂😉 2) check the brakes every year, and as it turned out it is also important to control the humidity level in the caravan, by the way, we recently made a new video on this topic. Thanks for the comment and sorry for the long and delayed reply! 👍😉

5000 for fixing the brakes was excessive. I just did mine myself. Two axles. 1200 in parts and two hours work. In general, the cost of service is exorbitant whoever you turn to in Norway. You earn quite well in Norway, but the cost of everything eats up that advantage very quickly.
@CrazyTroll
@CrazyTroll 3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree that 5000 is too much and to fix yourself is way cheaper, but you need to have spares available or be able to arrange quickly.
