I am so impressed by the appearance of those greens! I haven't seen greens in the US that look like that in years!!

Hello crystal, and welcome to our channel! The fruit and vegetables are amazing in Portugal, especially from local markets, like this one in Leiria! We also had an amazing experience in another market, in Alcobaça... here's the link to that video, where the produce is amazing and the people were so friendly! 😁😀 kzbin.info/www/bejne/laKsgnmHfbyZfKc Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, we always love to hear such positive feedback! ~ Mandy 😀😁

Thank you so much, Clare! It's always wonderful to hear from a fellow Kiwi, and I have to say that I have such feijoa envy! I've seen a few feijoa bushes for sale at markets but have only seen 1 in a garden, and it was more of a tree than a bush! Did you end up bottling any, or just eat them fresh? We'll probably be back in NZ at the end of the year to visit family, but will have missed feijoa season! Oh, I should have mentioned the price... €7 to buy a feijoa plant! 😃😁 ~ Mandy

Made Chutney, stewed some and ate fresh. In our neighborhood lots of people had Feijos at gate to give away. Always look forward to your new videos each week, keep them coming please. 😻😸

I've seen it a few times now, including on Wednesday at Lisbon Oriente station! It's always good to carry your own stash though, just in case... which I'm going tostart mentioning more in vlogs 😁😀 ~ Mandy

Using the old telephone booths as a book exchange gave me a smile. I've seen this a couple other places, but I cannot think of where. It may have been Lourinhã. We are having a great time so far in Caldas da Rainha this month. You will want to check out the open air market, if you have not already. I got a few items this morning for €4.29. I priced out the same things at the supermarket I used to go to in the states and it would have come out to €12.95. It's a great value! Thanks for the video. I'm off now to try to find a place to watch the Ukraine and Wales match tomorrow.

Hello Todd! Thank you so much for your lovely comment... it's always great to hear from you! We saw two more phone box libraries recently, in Évora and Faro. That's great value for the open air market - we'll have to go next week. Let us know if you find somewhere to watch the match tomorrow, as we're currently housesitting in Caldas, and Lee's keen to watch the match! It could be fun to meet up 😃😁 ~ Mandy

Fun video! Pretty sure based on the look of the brick construction that bit of arch at the beginning is Roman. Our favourite fish when we are in Portugal is Dourado and we recently have been thrilled to find that our Costco here in Canada is now stocking it in the fresh seafood section. Fire up the grill!
@FrugalTravellers
@FrugalTravellers 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the advice on the arch. It was such a pity that the sign was completely weathered and tagged! It's great to hear that you can now buy Dourado, so tasty! Definitely get that grilled fired up for Sunday lunch. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, we really appreciate it! 😃😁 ~ Mandy

Hello revolt7! Fuggly is a great way to describe Leiria bus station, but I'm so grateful that the loos are free! Tests were good and they couldn't find anything obstructing the vein... apparently it's my blimmin' heavy backpack causing the problem, so I need to try and go minimalist! 😳 Thank you so much for your great comments... we always love hearing from you! ~ Mandy

The Memrise app (well I THINK it's that one) has a function where you hover your phone over text, which it 'sees' through the camera and it literally converts the Portuguse words to English ones before your very eyes.
@FrugalTravellers
@FrugalTravellers 2 жыл бұрын
Google Translate does that as well, with varying success. It was awful in China as really struggled to translate the flowery nature of Mandarin, and came out with some right poetic gibberish 😀🤣 ~ Mandy
@PlanetImo
@PlanetImo 2 жыл бұрын
No it's not - just paused the video to check. It's Google translate phone app. You use the camera button and hover over text. It's underneath the 'enter text' field. That would have worked on your plaque, I think.

That is so lovely, Cheryl. Thank you for your comment and compliment! We have a Buy Me A Coffee account, (the link is below) which we set up after a few kind people asked for a way to buy us a coffee or a drink... my Ma actually bought us 5 coffees through it, as she's such a sweetheart! ❤ Wishing you great success on your scouting trip in September, and we hope you enjoy our upcoming videos on Tomar, Évora and Faro! 😃😁 ~ Mandy www.buymeacoffee.com/FrugalTravel

Oh no! Getting told off for filming! It's the curse of the vlogger.
@FrugalTravellers
@FrugalTravellers 2 жыл бұрын
Definitely... I need to learn to be more surreptitious and more thick skinned! I tried to get footage at the Tomar market with the GoPro attached to my bag, and it's all unusable! I'll just have to risk it each time! 😁 My main curse as a vlogger is procrastination! I'm answering your lovely comments instead of finishing tomorrow's video, which I've had 2 weeks to make 🤣😂 I am so in awe of your ability to produce daily vlogs that are always entertaining... you're amazing! 👏😀😁 ~ Mandy
