I'M A PRACTICE TEACHER OF WORLDS FUTURE TEACHERS There are things to let go in exchange of something to be priority. Sacrifices are inevitable for family for dreams and career, a reality that all must be conquer, things that matter in expense of which are less. Plants grow from the first cycle of seeding as teacher's nurture the learning throughout their internship or practice teaching. Simple word yet big world of responsibilities and obligation put fairly to anyone who are into field of teaching. Osmeña Colleges is one of the home of millions of millions of aspiring teacher's all over the world and two of the Mr. Vince Asarez and Ms. Marinel shine Buntod shared their journey and held the hope of perseverance and sacrifices. Different name, different wisdom but same hope, journey and story. As we go enter the school we are meant to meet some of them to tell their side about how beautiful it is to teach and be the hero for some unknown kids who you never believe to change lives. How wonderful it is to think and just play it all in your mind just like all the flashback of all the pain, tears and struggle just to stand still and hear your name to be called a professional teacher, this means the world. Being a practice teacher is not easy as anyone thought. Do you still remember all the rushing times to do your presentation or discussion because your run out of time or how about the first morning to enter the room facing your students who are actually bigger or confident than you or then maybe the very first time of teaching students with a sweaty hands and armpit, shaking hands and heart pumping so loud, or then lastly a time when you don't know what to do to this student crying out loud because he can't understand you. Do you still remember that? There's a lot of commitment and adjustment when it comes to teaching the money, time management, and the fear of road accident. We are all open for those circumstances for those are happen in real life. As for Ms. Shine it takes courage to travel everyday from the city to Usab just to take a chance of gaining not just money but student learning. I salute and envy such practice teacher who are really into their field. In this way they molded their selves into any chances on how they were able to handle rooms of students with different tantrums and characteristics. As for Ms. Shine and Mr. Vince the task is not what they expect and imagine but as time goes by the affection by the students really deepen the thread that connects love and passion. This was the promise that they once oath. All of the sacrifices will be paid off when we know the reason why we sacrifice, it is not easy to be a teacher you need the power of vocal from the very beginning of the day till the moon cover the sun and all the papers to be done in time but for our two featured aspiring teacher's, "Kaya para sa pamilya" they are emotionally triggered by how the road of teaching so painful not just physically but also financially but they know that at the end of this road the triumph and good life for their family awaited. The medals for students success waiting over there so there just smoothly riding this journey. They are indeed the hero of school room they save lives if students from drowning thief visuals are the lights for further understanding, their presence means care, their laugh of response means your accepted. PRACTICE TEACHING DEPARTURE An example of practice teaching is spending time as a student teacher during the last semesters of College to gain an experience. It is a College-supervised instructional experiences; usually the culminating course in a university or college undergraduate education or graduate school program leading to teacher education and certification. “I never saw myself as somebody who had the patience and knowledge to work with a child but throughout both of my upper school placements I found that those were the children that gravitated towards me and I towards them. I enjoyed spending time with them and helping them to achieve something. In a way it reminded me of why I wanted to teach. I love seeing the look on a childs face when they have finally been able to construct a grammar, the way how they cooperate. That eureka moment where their eyes light up and that smile beams out from their face. It doesn’t matter how small a ‘thing’ it could be to somebody else but it means the world to that child I enjoyed sharing those moments”. Mr Vince adds: “However, before then I have learning from life. As a mature student I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I just wanted to teach. So I decided I would do something interesting that still allows me school contact whatever the situation is. I have no doubt that my disengagement at school played a role in my decision to home school my children. What I didn’t realise at the time was that this decision would not only open my eyes to different learning intelligences but also awake a passion to create stimulating education experiences”. Struggles before winning the Battle It is undeniably truth that every teachers vision and dream is to be an excellent teacher. Teaching minds..... touching hearts..... building characters..... These are the works of every great teacher. It has always been said that teaching is a noblest profession in the whole world that walks with knowledge, patience, and dedication. One of the greatest role of a teacher is teaching minds and building the characters of every student. Teachers should also respond more openly to their student with passion and dedication. And to be an aspiring teacher, one has to endure difficulties and sacrifices. There are these two teacher who exemplifies the real essence of education. They are Mr. Elvin Azares and Ms. Marinel Shine Tumblod. A living proof of a saying" Teaching is not an easy profession". They proved that only teachers who loved teaching and those who are passionate on it are more likely to achieved the real meaning of the word education. Financial stability, transportation, and time management are just few of so many struggles that the two of them are facing. In teaching we encounter a lot challenges and difficulties, yet we are determined to fight for our main goal which is to teach and share. On the days of Mr. Azares and Miss. Tumblod in the practicom, they both realize all the hardship and sacrifices of being a teacher in their students, this is where they feel the call to teach and soon become their passion to embrace. But it is just a beginning of being a teacher, where the long road of every beginner in teaching profession was never been easy, hardship and struggles is always been there which it serves as the beginning of never ending learning. Teachers are never ending learner, even though they were done schooling, yet they were not able to stop learning for every day of their lives is a new learning to gain and a new knowledge to share. Being a teacher is a big responsibility were you will not just teach, but you’ll be a parent, a friend, and a sister or a brother to your student. For them to trust you as their mentor or teacher in life they’ve been ascertain. Teaching is not just teaching itself, but it is the way of loving and sharing, loving the profession and being productive on it, sharing knowledge not just for student, but open for all that has tolerance to learn or to gain knowledge. The Allegiance of Being Teacher Every teacher devotes his or her life to their students. It isn't the money or the three months summer vacation. Becoming a teacher are deeper than that. Teaching is one of the most direct ways to make an impact. Teachers teach because they want to change lives. A lot of people think teacher have it easy. Little to those people know that being a teacher is quite difficult. Becoming a teacher offers endless opportunity to help all students understand and achieve their full potential. Teaching is not only a profession with rigorous standards ; it is also a calling to serve others. My compliment to them two, Mr. Vince Azares and Ms. Shine Tumblod for their commitment and passion in teaching as they shared their practice teaching journey. They both took up Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English at Osmeña Colleges. Mr. Vince Azares is an in-campus practice teacher. Despite of his lack of financial stability, he strive for more to achieve his dreams for his parents by doing part time job such as hosting, stage designing and working as DJ of Radyo Natin at OC campus. And Ms. Shine Rumblod, an out-campus practice teacher at USAB High School. Being an out-campus practice teacher is quite tiring according to her. She needs to wake up early because the school where she's assigned was distant. I so much admired them two for their determination to achieve their goals. The Buntod Sandbar and Reef Marine Sanctuary was mostly visited by many people because of it's breathe taking view, perfect white sand, and clean water of the beach that would make you feel so comfortable of having your trip. The Buntod Sandbar and Reef Marine Sanctuary is a small islet and mangrove area that can be found just off the coast of Masbate City, the capital of the province of Masbate. Located in the middle of seawaters of two barangays - Nursery and Tugbo, this 250-hectare marine sanctuary offers an easy and refreshing getaway very near the city. I didn’t expect to find such a beautiful destination just 15 minutes away by boat from the mainland. The best time to go to Buntod Reef is during low tide as white sand submerges into water during high tide. It’s also very nice there around sunset. Masbate is know as the "Ranch Capitol of the Philippines", where cowhands on horseback herd cattle across wide and beautiful landscapes. Every year in the month of April, Masbate celebrates its festival. The Rodeo Festival, they showcase skills in livestock handling, such as lassoing, riding cattle and a fair amd exhibitions and trade of cattle and horses, they also have the street dance, performed by 20 municipalites. But the adventure don't start here, part of Masbate, which is the Ticao island has one of the must-visit unique waterfalls, the unique and one-of-a-kind waterfalls in the Philippines, the "Catandayagan Falls", where the water falls directly to the open sea. “We dont just teach, We Inspire” Years ago, as a young, eager tostudent, I would have told you that a great teacher was someone who provided classroom entertainment and gave very little homework. Needless to say, after I'm many years of K-12 administrative experience and giving hundreds of teacher evaluations, my perspective has changed. My current position as a professor in higher education gives me the opportunity to share what I have learned with current and future school leaders, and allows for some lively discussions among my graduate students in terms of what it means to be a great teacher. Teaching is hard work and some teachers never grow to be anything better than mediocre. They do the bare minimum required and very little more. The great teachers, however, work tirelessly to create a challenging, nurturing environment for their students. Great teaching seems to have less to do with our knowledge and skills than with our attitude toward our students, our subject, and our work. Although this list is certainly not all-inclusive, I have narrowed down the many characteristics of a great teacher to those I have found to be the most essential, regardless of the age of the learner: A great teacher respects students. "Quiting? What's that?" Teaching can be a big "No" to most of us but not for these aspiring educators who strive to survive and overcome life. In an interview, two future teachers shared the challenges of being a practice teacher and how they overcome these. Teaching is proven to be difficult and the challenge of being one is no joke. From poverty, traveling, time management, to finding a way to communicate with students it's all up to them how they'll face it. My Home Town Ticao Island Ticao Island, is an island with a total land area of (334 km2 or 129 sq mi) is one of the three major islands of Masbate province in the Philippines. It is separated from the Bicol Peninsula by the Ticao Pass. The other two major islands are Masbate Island and Burias Island. The island is divided into the municipalities of Batuan, Monreal, San Fernando and its mother-town, San Jacinto. She said that, being a teacher is not her choice to be taken because his mother and father are both teachers and she witnessed how hard the teacher is. But when the time goes by she decided to challenge herself being a teacher. She said that during her practice teaching she realized and experienced everything as a real teacher.
