This engine has ran super strong Never a lack in power,Its only a 2 yr old rebuild.Ive ran my snow blower last winter ,and mowed at less than half throttle in high gear and never had this happen .I take good care of my tractor,oil changes ,grease jobs before I mow ect..man I hope I can get this fixed.

Hey guys , Dan Murphy here . I have a 66 suburban 12. Its restored and has ran great for 2 yrs. recently have had problem with the motor just quiting. I just rebuilt the carb put in new points condenser and plug . I also put in a new air filter and inline fuel filter.I got it going this evening and cut about a half acre with it .then it started acting like it was starving for fuel I .pushed it to garage and got it running and it acts like there is a flat spot in the carb ?I can throttle it up easy and engage the blades then it dies.. So I took out the new inline fuel filter and it didn't die wen I engaged the blades.This has never happened before. Please any thoughts????I have clean fuel too . Thanks
@Chooman6910 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, check the pin in with the points. Make sure it is not sticking. We've had that problem. Next I think you may have a fuel delivery issue. Is the tank close to empty or run better when fuel is full?
@danmurphy641510 жыл бұрын
I found cracks in the coil wire.this explains the intermitant fluttering. So I cut off the cracked section of the coil wire and spliced in an doner coil wire. Sealed it up with 3m rubber splice tape ,and checked for power leakage ,I didn't get shocked ,and I got great spark now.So I mowed again it ran smoother than ever before. But now when its in tall grass or hi gear it dies. Its NEVER done this before.Its like the power band is weak. I have my sears engine manual and have adjusted the carb . It idles great ,I can idle up and engage the blades and mow only in 2nd gear..Ive tweeked the high speed power needle as good as I can . Just weak power response.. Im at a loss.

Before all this trouble started it ran good with low fuel or full tank .Do you think the yoke on the cam has anything to do with the points advance ?? Or is that just for the compression release ?.Thanks so much for the response.

Anyone know which white paint is nearest match to an original white hood for a Sears Suburban, like which shade of rustoleum etc??
@Chooman6910 жыл бұрын
IMO, the 60s tractor’s hood had thicker metal and more of an off white like and international harvester white or artic white than the 70s tractors. I have never done a repaint, hopefully someone will comment and help you out.

The original color was called Arctic White but I find that Rustoleum Gloss White looks pretty dang close bud, good luck!

I ran into this question when I did Ol' Orange & White. I think in reality the color was simply a bright white back in the day. But if you look at old catalogs and period photos, you get more of an antique white impression. So, I went with IH White which has either a cream or greyish tint depending on the year.

Rooney has some nice stuff, I have an electric hitch setup, tried to make it work with my sleeve hitch bar but it won't lift the attachments...
@Chooman6910 жыл бұрын
Great guy. To bad about the hitch setup. They seem very valuable when working.
