Visiting a Gypsy Flea Market in Romania
Join me as we try and visit a market in Romania, just to be told that we cannot film.
We then move on to a Gypsy Flea Market and agree on an escort to follow us around whilst we meet the locals and see what weird things are for sale.
If you enjoy adventure videos from the former Soviet Union and Central & Eastern Europe, then grab your vodka, some zakusky and join me as we visit this Gypsy Flea market in Buchares Romania.
Thank you to all my KZbin Members and Patreons for your support and for helping make this channel what it is!

What a great video Justin! That market is just my kind of place! I regularly go to a similar market in Krakow (if we ever get to meet in Krakow, I will definitely take you there). That stonking great doughnut thing was a meal in itself, and the cafe food looked delicious too. Enjoy YOUR journey! 👍👍

@@shutyourmouthnow that's just propaganda, per capita for example Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Slovakia have a higher percentage of gypsies and Hungary similar to Romania, so basically it's just propaganda created by western media and vloggers like Justin who come here only to film gypsies and gypsy places. We Romanians are used to this kind of propaganda... it has to do with the name confusion Rom//Romi/Roma/Romani/Romanies aka Gypsies vs Romanians as well.
@shutyourmouthnow
@shutyourmouthnow Жыл бұрын
@@Zdamaneta nice one :) First, how many Romanians love manele? Now let me tell you something: all that people who listen that type of music are gypsy or mixed (at one point in their family tree someone was gypsy) Now you gonna tell me ''but what about gypsies who listen to Bach or any other genre than manele, are Romanians?'' ''NO!" I'm gonna answer to you. They're people who chosen the evolution. Second, have you seen ''white gypsies''? Blond hair with blue/green eyes? Perhaps the percentage it's smaller in comparison with other countries, but it's based just on ''clear gypsies'' and mixed aren't introduced in the poll. How do I know this? Because I'm Romanian too. It's nice to defend Romania (because it's amazing geographical and have amazing people) but not regarding gypsy/mixed or political because both brought us a bad image over the borders. And yes, lots of gypsy everywhere because it's almost impossible to not meet/see at least one. wherever you go (they might be minority but for sure they're spread everywhere ) This doesn't means it's bad/dangerous (I'm not trying to be a racist or other craps) but it's better to be cautious BTW, it's rrom not rom

@@J.E.E It isn't legally banned, but people are just worried for their privacy, as you can't guarantee to someone anything about what will you do with the footage after you leave. The security guards just want to prevent complaints from other customers, they don't guard any secrets in the supermarket :)))

In Romania, if it is private property of public utility, they can ban it if they want. The law is contradictory, but they can do what they want on their area.

Hello Marcus, My channel is centered around a theme which is related to local life, cuisine, people and culture, and I always make it a point to visit a food market and a flea market if there is one. Unfortunately I was asked not to film at the food market, in spite of my attempts to try and convince them to allow me. Had that not been the case, I would have made 2 market videos with a completely different vibe in each one. As for the Gypsy Flea market, unlike some, I do not find it a "horrible place". I had an amazing time and respect the culture immensely as I do with all historical cultures and traditions. As for other countries that have large gypsy populations, they don't seem to be as well integrated as they are in Romania, therefore not so apparent when in the city. Although I have mentioned it in a Varna video when I was walking to a market there. Another point to make, is I never produce a video with the intension to offend people, I share my experience, as it unfolds on the journey. May I ask what it is you found "horrible" about the market, to the point that my sharing it made you so uncomfortable?
@Zdamaneta
@Zdamaneta Жыл бұрын
@@J.E.E Gypsies are not integrated in Romania at all unfortunately, they are segregated and they keep living in their own culture, reason why you see them begging, pickpocketing and sleeping on the streets in the most touristic places in the world or in Romania they live in their own villages and ghettos. I would say Gypsies in the Balkans are the least integrated while in Spain, Turkey, Western Europe and even in Central Europe they are much better integrated.
@0xe849
@0xe849 Жыл бұрын
@@Zdamaneta gypsies does not want to integrate no matter where they lives. I am telling this as a Bulgarian. We also have alot gypsies here and the government is trying to educate them, give them a job, but they have just prefer to not learn and work. They don't want to have boss or working time! And why should they when the government is giving them money monthly for every children they have, noone is pushing them to pay bills for stolen electricity, water and etc.
@Zdamaneta

@@0xe849 yep, same story here in Romania. Unfortunately that's their culture and as long as they grow up in it there's nothing we can do about their integration.

@@Zdamaneta yep :) Germany was trying to blame Bulgaria and Romania for not integrating the gypsies until they invaded them and saw that noobody can integrate them. That is why they remain silient for the last years and don't give us advice how to integrate them.
