Great shots. My dad was stationed there in the army during wwii. Not much left from those days.

Thank you. For sure, we were out at Zeto Point and the gun mounts were all swallowed up by the tundra and the ol' quonset huts were all torn down it looks like.

Thank you Chuck. I truely enjoyed your videos & pictures. I was 19 yrs old as a Navy Seabee stationed at NavSta from June 1974-June 1975. I worked in the Public Works Department as a Power Lineman for the base. We lived in the Bering Hill Barracks. At that time, there were 6,000 people there. Civilians & military. I can truely appreciate the black & white photos you took. When I was there I took many pictures of our hikes & other places of the island. I had a Minolta SRT-201 35mm camera with telephoto lenses. To this day, i still have those pictures but not the camera gear. Adak was & still is a unique place in the world. Looking forward to your future videos & pics. Have a wonderful day. Bob Paulsen. USN Ret.

I never went to Adak so I appreciate your perspective on Adak. I remember my gunny once threatening to send me to Adak...but to put that in perspective, I was serving at Marine Barracks Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Puerto Rico. (1983-85)

Ahhhh, the warmth of the Caribbean. Semper Fi, Marine, don't matter where we served, we served. Thank you.

Very interesting, SgtMaj. I’m glad you are posting your photos with the commentary. The black and white aspect seems to provoke more memories for me. I can’t explain why. Looking forward to more content from you. Thank you! -Tom. (Adak 84-85)

Can't wait for Monday when you talk more about your trip. If people don't personally know him then you are missing out. This Marine is an open book. Amazing stories and a down to earth guy.

Thank you for the tour. It’s nice to return to old familiar places. Any chance are you familiar with 1st Lt Al Lussier? I went to DLI the same year he was learning Chinese and I was learning Korean. Thank you for the tour.

I'm afraid I didn't know Lt. Lussier. I had left the island prior to his arrival. However, we did work on the Marine Memorial Site and paid our respects to Lt. Lussier leaving a placard on the memorial mound.

I thought about it; however, I wanted to work with the Lumix S5II. Put it through its serious paces for the first time.
