Back in the late 1990's I remember zebra pleco's selling for $30. I had a chance to buy some a couple of months ago at $200 a pop. They are not endangered. I have one of the best pleco breeders in the world near me and he's been to the river they are collected from. He said they're everywhere in the river.

In 2004, the zebra pleco was added to the IBAMA list of endangered species and exporting it from Brazil was made illegal. However, this law is only present in Brazil and black market fish traders smuggle them out of Brazil to then sell in other countries primarily Colombia. And they are only collected in a small section of the Rio Xingu. And now Brazil is looking to put them on CITES appendix I

Perfect timing to sub you. I’m looking at getting a few new different species of pleco’s . I’m loving some lemon blue eye pleco’s that someone is selling near to me. I will be having a video overload of your videos today and tomorrow before making any decisions ! Like the look of zebras too.

Hi first time watching great video have you ever heard of a rusty Pleco I have two in a 75 g African Cichlid tank lfs said they be better than the bn Pleco so I went with his advice I just don’t know much about them looking for some information
