I spend my summers in Clayton and my better half was actually born and raised there. The owner of the liquor store you went to is actually our nephews godfather lol. As of summer 2019 there is now a liquor store in the building beside "scoops" ice cream shop down on riverside dr. Right there almost near the check-in station/bathrooms near the river. This video is one of the most well done on youtube, It was lovely to see clayton from an outsiders pov because we love it so dearly and the river is part of us. Thank you !!

My sailing venue for 20+ years when I lived in Rochester. Janice made a telling remark "This is like the Caribbean."...(except for the clarity of the water.) Someone else made the same remark to me over 20 years ago. Bring us many more, for me, wonderful and nostalgic memories.

Great news, new liquor store right on Riverside dr. Directly across public center docks
@Bowmans-Woods5 жыл бұрын
That is good news. The old liquor store was quite a hike. Thanks for letting us know. I will not be back and sailing that area until some time in July but something to look forward to.

Yes. We need a dry hot summer so we can really enjoy things like swimming off the boat, etc. Last year was so cold and wet. Not the best sailing year, for sure.

Where the hotel sits is where the original Frink commercial plows where built. I’m from Clayton. That’s why when you walk off the docks you’re at Frink Park 🙂

Craig, A lovely video - as usual. Makes me want to visit Clayton and eat there too of course. On your photo walk thru Clayton (beginning at time 16:25 or so) with the new camera and gimbal set-up it seems that your pans were too fast and the images seemed to "jerk" forward as if the camera software couldn't quite keep up. I am viewing at 720 HD on a PC, but it still might be on my end. Anyway, I KNOW you are always striving to be better at the videos and you are generally awesome, even almost becalmed in the middle of the Atlantic. There may be yet a few kinks to work out with the new set-up. KEEP SAILING.
@Bowmans-Woods6 жыл бұрын
Ya. I noticed the jerking on pans too. I tried something new on this episode. I rendered the video at 24p, not 30p. The slower frame rate is supposed to look more cinematic but I think it does not work well if you are panning around. The dropped frames are noticeable. I probably will only render in 30p from now on.

I take it that the inner mast furling for the main still isn't working entirely as it should. I noticed you've wrapped the clew around the mast once or twice. Will you have to drop the mast to fix it? --Peter
@Bowmans-Woods6 жыл бұрын
That’s a good spot by you. We had a new furling line put on and they didn’t put enough wraps on the Furler. So when we furl in the sail there still a sizable portion left out. To stop it flopping around in the wind we’ve wrapped it around the mast until we can fix it.

Craig how heavy is the gimbal. Does it have bottom weights to counter balance the top. It looked strictly hand held which would be tiresome if it is heavy. Does it have a chest harness?
@Bowmans-Woods6 жыл бұрын
It is pretty heavy with everything on it. That is why I got the dual handles to help distribute the weight to 2 arms. a belt or chest connection to support the weight for long uses would be a good idea.
@paullitrop2566 жыл бұрын
great video, really enjoyed claton , p.s. your arms are going to get jacked lugging that gimble thing......not that they are not jacked now.

Ha ha. Thanks. Trying to lose weight and get in better shape. The massive gimbal setup can just work as my arm and shoulder workout. 😜

Was Janice shy about buying booze or did I misinterpret that ^^, so cute.
@Bowmans-Woods6 жыл бұрын
Ha ha. No she is never shy about proclaiming she loves Rum. Watch future episodes and you’ll see. Ha ha. She was scared that I said she bought more than 2 bottles of booze. We are only allowed to bring 2 back to Canada. That’s why I said we will have to drink one before we go back.

I grew up in clayton... i love that town to death... it's where I will be buried, but if anyone needs a dj in clayton... get ahold of me and the flooding is back this year and was two inches higher so, ouch
@Bowmans-Woods5 жыл бұрын
Yes. We like it there. Clayton is one of the few towns along the river that seems built to still remain open when it floods. A lot of other towns practically have to close. Which is a shame. Record Massive floods 2 years apart does not bode well for what is happening with climate change and the possibility of a new higher water level we may expect more regularly.

You know that alcohol has more calories per gram than meat or carbs, right? But of course, you need to have something to make not eating meat tolerable, I guess.
@Bowmans-Woods6 жыл бұрын
Ya. As much as it may not seem like it from the video. We are not huge drinkers. Only Occasionally when we are on the boat at anchor we may have a "Sundowner" or 2. Nothing other than that so overall the odd drink is not going to add much to our weekly calorie intake. My diet is to stop cancer and heart disease. It has nothing to do with counting calories anyway. I can eat as much as I like. Just no meat, eggs or milk. Not that hard to do once you are used to it. I will eat that stuff on special occasions. Like at Bella's. I had Crab cakes and a steak. But that was the first time in probably a month. It was a treat.
