Thank goodness. There's no colonial statue, but pure Afrikan fighter's that we Ayitien should be proud of. Thank you very much for displaying that @ SeeJeanty.

1964 was my first visit to Le Plaza when Haiti and PaP was knock-out stunningly gorgeous! Champs de Mars was dense with mature trees. Art was everywhere. Having been involved with a number of Haitian hotels over time we know that Le Plaza is a survivor. This address has been host to countless Balls, important events, and at times of stress an island of safety and comfort. There's a lot of history at Le Plaza that reflects the participation of so many cultures and personalities. Jeanty can't tell it all. Do go by for a meal, a beverage, or a week!

No gouvernement since 1804 , a country full of leaders that can’t any voice coherent vision that’s sound and acceptable. Even the population are to be fearful of when they are confronted to valid arguments. DT was right 😪

Don't listen to him, he knows nothing about Haiti history. the Haitian president jean Pierre boyer ruled the whole island in the eighteen hundred. plus, the Haitian president, petion, helped plenty of south American countries obtain their independence. also, Google Frederick Douglass document or speech on Haiti, and learn how much doesn't know about Haiti. plus, Haiti has helped the Dominican republic plenty of times in the eighteen hundred, plus in the nineteen hundred.@@zoetele123

The music got me also. I love the Kompa from back in the day, the winning guitar really set Haiti on as unique and special, distinguishes it as it own from its neighbors,, Back in New York during the late 70s everyone would know when the Haitians would roll in down Eastern Parkway by the music, strong, vibrant and pulsating making everyone want to be a part. I love the Haitian culture and its people, Sure to visit soon and get a feel of the genuine experience and vibes.

SeeJeanty......OMG, I can't believe how destructive the Champ de Mars is today or the last few decades. SeeJeanty, you wouldn't believe how beautiful the Champ de Mars, Port-au-Prince or Haiti for that matter used to be during the time of President Jean Claude Duvalier, lots of beautiful flowers, the water fountains were open, the grass was green, the whole place was clean and secured. We didn't have democracy and we weren't filthy rich as a country and yes the Tonton Makouts were on our backs but Haiti was stable economically, politically and cleaned. I would definitely stay at the Plaza when I visit Haiti and it is so close to all the major historical monuments. I can't wait to see the new National Palace and I hope they will rebuild it exactly the way it was.

@@SeeJeanty to me simply napoleon as a child grew up probably with everything he needed and later became an emperor slave master but Toussaint Louverture on the other hand was a slave eventhough he had African royal lineage. They both had different realities. I could ignore something but how can one not even compare but in a way elevate this French slave master oppressor and in away is portrayed as a great man when you said "black Napoleon". They both accomplished different things had different objectives. There's nothing great about a "black Napoleon" nor a conqueror who probably appears great to some frenchmen I doubt to even all frenchmen. Toussaint was a slave had a master then became a liberator. If I'm not mistaken the only thing they might have had in common was the fact that they were both war strategists and generals perhaps

Well, They're working on amending the constitution to allow those of us who became citizen of other countries to be able to hold office. I truly think that it's a good idea. No one should be elected president without spending some time in developed countries for some time just to see how things work and to and to be able to make the changes that we really need which is unique to our tropical paradise. Haiti for Haitian and outsiders come last unless you have ancestral connections....I could be wrong but let us know your opinion
