This will be probably the biggest infrastructure project that the UK has seen for quite some time if it is approved. Before Universal announced they brought the land I had no idea how big the land was around there. That southern plot is massive as this guy illustrated. Bedford is a medium-sized town with not a lot going on there so just for the construction jobs alone will be massive.

Actually no. Back in 1999 Universal acquired a stake in the Spanish park Port Aventura, adding their name onto the park and creating a resort named Universal Mediterranea around it, adding on hotels and a water park. They sold their stake and left the park in 2004 though.

I almost think the most exciting part of this potential project isn't even the park. That will be awesome, but the amount of travel improvement, city walk, and first class restaurants, hotels, and other businesses that will move in is going to change everyday life. No park in the UK has the surrounding business ventures for visitors. Definitely not the landscaping, restaurants, or high end hotels.

Hopefully they do approve the project for the propose Universal Great Britain Park Will just have to see and I’ll be looking forward in art and sketch in how it’s going to look.

I wonder whats happening with the land north of the proposed slip road thats not part of Universal land but has a couple of roundabouts already on place. I wonder if Universal would snap this up as it seems like an odd section to miss out given its proximity to the park

It was earmarked to be a new upper school but I think those plans have been dropped. Either way it’s not owned by the Cloud Wing AKA Comcast/Universal so that’ll be why they don’t have it. Also that would really rub the locals up the wrong way if they started using that roundabout to access the theme park as it’s a local route into the village.

Does the site allow for further expansion beyond its current boarders, I was wondering if this was a consideration when selecting the site and the possibility for multigenerational park expansions

Merlin will try their best to stop this project so expect delays but I recon universal are on a winner as its already brown land and ex industrial.

why is it called universal Great Britain shouldn’t it be called universal United Kingdom which includes Northern Ireland ?

@@clcjcom No, the United Kingdom is the United Kingdom of Great Britain AND Northern Ireland. Scotland, Wales and England form Great Britain. The park is being built in Great Britain. Northern Ireland has nothing to do with it.
