Visiting Kibune (Kifune) Shrine and Kurama dera Temple | How to go there | 貴船神社と鞍馬寺 | 日本京都

Kifune Shrine or Kibune Shrine (貴船神社) and Kurama dera Temple (鞍馬寺) are located in the northmost part of Kyoto City. They are a popular spot to visit in any season but most especially in summer and fall. They can easily be reached by train.
How to reach Kifune / Kibune:
- From Kyoto Station, take the Keihan Line and switch line at Tofukuji Station for Demachinayagi Station.
- Get off Demachinagi Station and take Exit 7.
- Get on the Eizan Main Line for Kurama. It takes about 28 minutes to reach Kibuneguchi Station.
- Get off Kibuneguchi Station, then either take the local bus or go on foot for roughly 30 minutes.
How to reach Kurama:
- Get on the same line for Kurama
- After 3 minutes, you'll reach Kurama Station
- Another option is to hike from Kibune to Mt. Kurama but it'll take you about 2-3 hours, depending on your pace.

Very rarely snows in December. Usually in January to early February.

Hi, sorry! Usually you can use ICOCA but for local buses, they only accept cash. So better have some cash handy.
